Well I wanted my brother to be my officiant but apparently he has an issue with me and my fiance living together, he said we are living in sin. hmmm ok. Then a friend of the family (a pastor) basically said in so many words that my fiance and I would have to be celibate until the wedding. Wow, is anybody else having this problem?

I’m not sure if you have looked into this option, but have you looked on WeddingWire for an officiant? You could also Google officiants in your local area. Most officiants will perform religious, non-denominational, spiritual, etc weddings. As long as you are not planning to have your wedding ceremony in a specific church you can employ an officiant from your local community. Our wedding ceremony is at a hotel, so we ended up having an officiant from a local Unitarian Church perform our ceremony. She is great and will perform any type of ceremony that is to our liking and we are only required to meet her to discuss our upcoming wedding!

I’m using a former Catholic priest and he’s been really awesome. He’s pretty liberal (which is why he left the church) but since he’s ordained, the commandment is still met. I suggest looking into somebody like that, they’re much less judgemental

Thanks you guys, we are having a non-traditional wedding at a country club. I thought it would have been nice to have my brother marry us, but I see that will not happen. I will look on Wedding Wire. I found an officiant on craigslist that charge $350. I will keep him in mind but will keep searching for someone cheaper.
