I am a BM in a friend's wedding, so I went wedding dress shopping with her today. After spending 6 hours looking at tons of beautiful gowns, I'm now feeling as if mine isn't up to par.. :( I know I shouldn't compare my dress to others, but it's really hard not to when your friend is trying on stunning $2000 dresses and I go home to my $250 DB dress that is not nearly as jaw dropping (my dress budget was larger than that but I was happy with the DB dress when I bought it, and the low price really sweetened the deal).
I feel horrible for even thinking this way... I can't tell if I'm crying more about not being sure if I love my dress anymore or from embarrassment that I'm even having these thoughts. I had had a couple of thoughts along these lines before I went dress shopping with my friend but had never dwelt on them.. but now I can't get those thoughts out of my head...
Can you all give me your honest opinions on my entire ensemble? I'm posting below my dress, my veil and hair flower (my hair will be up), and my jewelry.

The above picture does not show my actual tiara or veil... this is what I'll be wearing (hair will be in a loose up do, and sorry for the sideways pic!):
My wedding jewelry (I didn't think I could wear a necklace with the dress so I just bought earrings and a bracelet):
Is my dress and ensemble too boring??? Do I need a do-over to find a more "WOW" dress? And am I a horrible person for even thinking about it? I feel like one. :(
You look gorgeous in your dress!!! Put your mind at ease. :) I think all the accessories are just right as well.
Beautiful. :)
Honestly, I love it. I love how classic and elegant it looks. Don't you dare change a thing! That dress looks amazing on you!
NO KEEP IT! I think you look fabulous in your dress (even better than the model pic)! I think that the accessories will look great!
OMG LOVE IT!!! You know why? Cause it's DIFFERENT!! It's not all sparkly and poofy and you don't look like a glitter cupcake :) The neckline is awesome and it's very flattering on you! Focus on the fact that you loved it at the beginning!
That dress looks great on you. That waist! OMG!!! I think once you add all the accessories it won't feel as "boring". Besides why would you want to spend more? Sweet dress at a sweet price = SUCCESS! I think most people have a little dress doubt so don't feel bad. Try to focus on how happy you were when you first tried on your dress and how you felt when you bought it.
I LOVE your dress. It is very flattering on you and the neckline is interesting and different. Not the same, usual strapless dress.
I think there are a lot of brides that would have the same reaction that you did. You are in love with your dress, but how could you not second guess your decision while watching another bride try on dresses, especially more expensive ones. Even if you tried on some of those same gowns you might not like them on you as much as the gown you bought.
On the other hand, if after a little while you still have these feelings, you will need to re-examine your dress decision. You could always try to sell it and buy aother one- or buy another anyway and be a 2 dress bride!
I freakin adore your dress. You look like a voluptuous rock star. You know that, right?
your dress is so unique and i love the jewelry you picked to go with it!!
That dress is amazing on you, way better than on the model. I love the earings and the braclet, you can go with a necklace, but I would keep it simple like a dainty cross or heart.
I think your dress is lovely, classic and timeless AND elegant to boot. You shouldn't really worry like that. Everyone has dress envy but such is life. You are going to look beautiful on your day. Just keep remembering why you bought the dress in the first place and how you felt trying it on.
First, your dress is beautiful, simple, and elegant. Also, I LOVE your jewelry and hair accessory choices.
BUT--if you want to bling up your dress a bit, you could probably add a beautiful beaded belt around the middle for relatively cheap.
Do I think it needs it? No. But it definitely couldn't hurt if you're having these feelings!
the dress looks great! and i love the jewelry :) although i would go with just the hair flower or pick a different veil - it might be the picture (since its competing with your coat) but the veil looks like alot with the flower. maybe something more simple????
i loooove the dress though - does it have pockets? pockets are my fav :)
Thank you ladies! I am starting to feel better about the dress...
@Beluga: "volumptious rock star" - that is definitely something I have not heard from someone before!! :) thank you!
@spaganya: It DOES have pockets! Maybe I will wear just the veil for the ceremony and then switch it out for the flower during the reception...
I love your dress! I think it looks amazing on you and it's so refreshingly different! I also love all the accessories you picked :)
250 bucks? You WIN. That dress looks fantastic on you - it's really, really flattering. I also totally adore your veil.
That dress TOTALLY ROCKS! Please don't change it! We all get dress envy, I think...but this one is just perfect on you!
Your dress looks fantastic on you! I absolutely adore it! Place with your accessories if you find something else that you're dying to have, but don't change the dress! I bought new wedding earrings two days before the wedding, so keep an open mind -- but I love what you have!
You look absolutely gorgeous! I LOVE that dress (and I think I'm jealous that you got such a beautiful dress for $250!).
I completely understand what you're talking about. My sister got married last year, and she had this awsome wow dress, with lots of lace and beading. She looked great in her dress. This year is my turn. When I went to buy my dress I fell in love with this simple organza gown, that fit me perfectly. I knew it was the dress, but after a couple of weeks I started having doubts, after thinking about my sister's dress and seeing a lot of beautiful elaborated dresses here too. I even went to several different stores and tried a bunch of different dresses: designer brands, expensive, lots of beading, lace, etc, etc. And then I went back to try the dress I had liked in thar first store and I discovered that I was head over heels. It's simple, it's not elaborated, it was unexpensive ($750) and not a huge name designer. It was also the opposite of my sister's dress, but when I put it on, I knew there was no other dress for me :D!!
I think doubts are normal, but you should think that every bride is different. You look beatiful on that dress!!
Your dress has a unique twist on a very classic style- I LOVE that neckline! It is simple, elegant, but very gorgeous. Don't regret your pick!
I love the dress - I think the lines are fabulous. I would look for some different more couture looking accessories to give you the wow factor, I would love to see an exquisit large hair flower - some amazing stud earrings and a statement bracelet.
I think your dress and accessories are beautiful!
I think your dress rocks! I don't think you need to second guess yourself. IF you feel the need to snaz it up, you could add a blingy belt around the middle but I don't really think it is necessary.
you look amazing in that dress! your waste is so tinny! your waist looks tinnier than the models! you look stunning! i love that dress and i really love it on you.
@meladoug: OMG! Don't change a thing! You rock that dress waaaay better than the model and there really is alot of detail going on with your dress! It's not too plain at all, and your figure looks AMAZING!
Plus you have just the right amount of accessories, you will look gorgeous! And you made a steal with the price! :)
Your dress is perfect, and fits you beautifully. The accessories are also very nice, but that amazing dress would look perfect with so many things! If you are feeling somehow unsatisfied, maybe you should look around at different accessories. But don't second-guess that perfect dress!!!
I think you look gorgeous, and the dress is perfect! If you're feeling like something's missing, have you though about getting a sash/belt or something to put around your waist? It could add something to the look, if you felt so inclined. But everything's beautiful as is, so don't worry about it!
love the neckline! your dress has a very elegant and classic look to it - I would definitely stay with that dress!
i love the dress and accessories! i agree with everyone here, do NOT change a thing!! i had the same doubts as you after watching too much SYTTD after buying my dress.. it's hard not to doubt oneself with the number of amazing dresses out there. You just have to be firm and stick to your original choice, because usually that's the choice MOST true to yourself before you get confused by the options (at least that's how i try to rationalize it!). Hang in there! You will look beautiful on your big day! I know it!
I love your look. Your dress is unique without being trendy and makes your waist look itty-bitty. Don't change a thing! Seriously.
I think that your look is classic and elegant and you shouldn't change a thing. You look wonderful in the gown :)
OMG - keep the dress & accessories! You will be so thankful that you did and that you can spend money on other things!!!! It is a beautiful dress and you will have stunning pictures from your wedding without having to scrimp on your honeymoon or other aspects of the wedding. Stay the course, girlfriend!!
p.s. I didn't even comment about how tiny your waist looks in that dress -- NICE!!!
PLEASE dont change your dress!! its amazing!! i think you look fantastic and its a pretty unique dress. your shoulders look great and your waist looks teeny tiny. keep it!
Love it!! Very simple and looks great! I'm having 2nd thoughts too! I hope these thoughts stop!
