I put in 10 applications in the city where I will be moving in the next two weeks. I had one company call me back, I went for two interviews that I thought went well. This morning, I got a call at 8 asking me to come in at 10 for a final interview. The manager himself called me, and so I got ready, drove an hour, got to the place, sat in the waiting area for two hours only to get back and go through a really short interview. I got home and almost as soon as I walked in the door, I got a call saying that the position had been filled and had been filled for about a week now so there was no need for me to come in for the interview that was scheduled for today…
What. I went to that interview for nothing. The manager must have known he’d already hired someone when he interviewed me the last two times, but he still let me come in, thinking I actually had a chance. I understand there may have been some kind of communication error, but still, the manager has to hire people, and if the position was already filled, why did he even ask me to come in?
I’m actually rather frustrated right now, and a little worried, because I was the only place I’d heard back from.
And I needed to complain about it to someone seeing as FH is at work and I can’t tell him.

@SouthernGirl: aww i’m sorry that really stinks. I hate that they do that. If its filled already they shouldn’t waste someone else’s time and money.

My thoughts exactly. I applied because a family friend that used ro work there told me that they “really needed people” right now and that I should definitely give it a try. I was so excited too, and I thought going through two interviews and getting the call for a third interview was a pretty good sign.
I just hope somewhere else calls me back soon.

Awe, I’m sorry this happened! Job hunting is so stressful, I’m in the same boat!

It is. The worst part about it is I bought a house this month. A week later, I got let go from the job I had here. I mean, I knew I would have to quit eventually because I’m moving, but really. Couldn’t they just let me quit?

wow that really sucks the manager basically lead you on….they suck and you don’t want to work for someone like that.
Have you tried http://www.indeed.com or http://www.simlyhired.com for jobs they’re good websites with tons of job listings.
Best of luck to you.

I’m sorry…that stinks!
When that happens I say good riddance! I wouldn’t want to work at a company with poor communication like that…next thing you know they will be messing up your paycheck, time off, etc etc…
