SO got the hookup through work for the Nutcracker ballet. Apparently one of his hostesses was one of the main ballerinas in the show – cool huh? 🙂 Forgot it was a classic Christmas show and was temporarily surprised by the sheer number of children in the audience. We’re waiting and waiting and waiting for the show to start and we are literally surrounded by the world’s cutest 4-6 yr olds (and I’m not even big on other ppl’s kids).
A little girl in front of us was opening a toy she got in a happy meal when my guy remarked, “I want one.”
Course. I’m terribly slow and thought he meant he wanted a happy meal, but I asked anyways: Want what?
“A baby.” He replies.
I laughed. “Right now? Don’t know if I can whip one up this instant. Can you wait a little while? Give it some time?”
It was just cute and I wanted to share. But mostly because I never have the opportunity to make him wait, and this seems to be a recurring theme. He might be holding the engagement key, but I’m holding the uterus key. Oh the power (insert sarcastic evil laugh). 🙂

SO knows if he says that then I would take him up on ASAP. Although hopefully we’d at least make it home before getting started….
We both have baby fever in the worst way. During my last really bad bout he offered to go to the courthouse and get married so that we could start right away (He’s way more adament about being married before the kiddo than I am). Unfortunately, it’s just not a good time right now. We’re talking about doing it this time next year, but recent developments with my job may have delayed that some.

@Sugaree: That’s too bad 🙁 But the 1st bit is funny. Hi, mom, I know we just left from dinner but we just got home and we have exciting news. 😉

I know what you mean…I feel the same way!! It is nice to be able to make them wait for something too. My SO would be happy having a kid now if i was on board with it. I keep telling him we have to do things in order…marriage, then kids. He totally agrees but i love that I have the control over the kids waiting game. 🙂

@claireos: That is really cute of him to say! I talk to my guy about general parenting things, and he’s pick a girl name out (that I’ll have to convince him out of), but I know I’ll be pushing the subject before he ever does. I think I might be handing him the “uterus key” as soon as he’ll take it, hahah

That’s super cute!
I must admit that I find it incredibly attractive when my guy talks about wanting kids. We’re in no way ready for a baby any time soon, but it’s still cute. We both love kids and want a big family, so I suppose it’s fitting.
