I did it bees! I bucked up and ordered the 50 blue lanterns I’d wanted for a while now. I got them on an ‘after holiday’ sale, so scoring them for under 4 bucks a piece softened the blow a bit. We’ll be using them as aisle decoration (hanging from ribbons) for the ceremony and then removing the ribbons to utilize them as centerpieces (with other candles around it on the mirror) at the reception.
So bees, what do you think? Any other ideas for accents to the lantern when they’re being used as centerpieces? And did anyone else have one of those ‘oh-holy-pete-this-is-a-big-wedding-purchase’ moments before buying something? Ehk!

Those are pretty, where did you find them?
Maybe go simple with the flowers and just have the tops around the edge of the mirrow.

I really like those and it sounds like you are getting your money’s worth using them at the ceremony and reception!

@indibee: Very pretty! did you get these from amazon?

We set the lantern on a mirror and covered the mirror and table with plastic “crystals”. The mirror sat on a piece of styrofoam covered by black dinner napkins (the venue did the set up of that and the mirrors for us). We used a different style of lantern, but I thought it might be helpful to see a pic:

@tksjewelry: and @kankanwed: I’d found them originally on amazon and ordered a single one a month back just to check out the size/shape/how hot it got, etc. It was really cute, not too big (I want low profile centerpieces).
I set up my first ebay and paypal accounts last night though, as there are some really good deals on lots of them. I scored 50 for $185 and free shipping. So I’d suggest ebay for large orders.
@discgirl: that is helpful to check out, thanks!
@MrsSl82be: it will be a while for a recap…I’ve still got a year from March yet, but I couldn’t pass up a score like that! 🙂 I’m excited for doing them, though, when the time finally comes.
ETA: sorry about the small/large font…I can NEVER figure out how to fix that when I reply to someone and then have to backspace for any reason.
