I’ve discovered that mall jewelry stores, especially those that do the whole buying and selling gold thing, tend to have higher markups. I wouldn’t think that ring would actually appraise for what they were trying to sell it for.

Lol I once tried on a $400,000+ diamond ring. Now that was a thrill!!!

They all are crazy overpriced… $12k for a 1 carat solitare is crazy. I wouldn’t even understand buying that if it was internally flawless.

Helzberg used to carry moissy, and I think they will still set them, or clean them etc.  🙂  It is nice when people are open minded.  It makes cruising jewelery stores so much more fun!

I’ve never been brave enough to try on the expensive stuff at a jewelry store, but I did once wear 4 Super Bowl rings at one time. They’re not worth much in and of themselves, but two were appraised at $50,000+ because they were from ‘exciting’ games. (My boss at the time was the brother of an NFL player, and he let us borrow the rings for a Super Bowl themed party, along with framed jerseys & such.)

@Someday_Mrs_Maguire:  No it actually looks really good!

What did you end up buying? Do you have a stock photo?
