Many of us. There are lots of threads about it. I ended up with a dress completely different from what I wanted.

ZebraPrintMe:  if you’ve had the “this is it’ moment, then get it. I got totally opposite of what I wanted in a dress and I’m really glad I did.

Yup. I wanted a lace fit and flare and said I would never wear a ball gown but I ended up falling in love with a ball gown. I did keep looking and trying on other dresses just to be sure I wanted that dress but nothing seemed to look as good as that “my” dress. It may not have been what I pictured but I have felt no regrets.

ZebraPrintMe:  Happened to me.  I was adament about one thing: No mermaid gowns.

I assumed because I had some curves it would make me look fat so the first 6-8 dresses I tried on were A-line, ball gown or sheath (I so badly wanted a nice sheath) but everything looked so damn boring on me or just “eh”

Then the girl brought me a mermaid – she told me to just please try it on so I did and WOW did I love what I saw.  I ended up with a mermaid – the very same style I was dead-set against.  I didn’t regret it at all.

Ummmm excuse me but it don’t see any pictures!! I’m love posts about dresses because it love to see the pictures!  I’m dying to see this dress now!

I’m would think about it for a little bit & continue to shop (if you’re not in any hurry that is). If you don’t find any other dresses that compare then you’ll know it’s ‘the dress’…

The dress I ended up buying was opposite of everyting I wanted…and to be honest when the attendant handed it to me i was like ummmm OK I guess i’ll try it on. Once it was on I was in love and when I setpped out my mom, my FMIL, MOH and a BM started crying. I wanted a fit and flare, corset, dramatic bottom with no / very short train. I ended up with a A sweetheart A-line, corset, with bead detail on the bottom with a chapel train.

I thought I wanted lace, cap sleeves, not poofy.  What I ended up getting was strapless, a-line, satin with black embroidery, and I felt absolutely gorgeous in it.  When you have a “This is it” moment, take it.

Have you tried on a dress in the style you originally wanted? I went in wanting something like a strapless fit and flair or dropped waist with a fuller bottom. Well, that style ended up making me look short(er) and stumpy. I ended up trying an a-line with halter strps and it made me feel like a princess. That’s what I wanted to feel like so I just stopped looking there. Sometimes what we thought we want isn’t really what we really want. If that makes any sense.

Yes! I think I wanted a blinged out ballgown but ended up with an all-tulle simple mermaid dress that I love. I felt “regret” just for choosing so fast but honestly, after two months of just accepting it I’m ready to try it on again once it comes in.
