The best thing you can do to show those abs is adjust your diet and do a mix of cardio/weight lifting. Have you ever heard that abs are made in the gym but revealed in the kitchen? It’s entirely true. If you notice you are gaining weight around your stomach, it usually has to do with diet, so the best way to slim that down is to clean up the diet! Also, I’m not sure how much weight you would like to lose…if you are thin but want to just get more “toned” I would suggest HIIT cardio mixed with lifting weights (the more muscle you have, the more fat you burn), if you have more weight to lose try steady state cardio till you are the size you’d like, then do the mix of HIIT/weight lifting. 🙂

It’s going to be 90% about what you eat.

Low sodium, low sugar, low carbs, High (lean) protein, and lots of veggies and water. And healthy fats.

No alcohol, no sugar….no fun, basically :p

Yes, I agree with others about diet being the number 1.

But also, you need to do a lot of core work. Planks and plank variations (weighted planks, side planks, forearm plank) are awesome for your core! Also situps on a GHD machine with a medicine ball are great. Hanging leg raises. Flutter kicks. Knee glides… so many fun things you can do!

I’m on the same boat except I am 44 days away. All I do is drink water and eat Tabouli (so basically salad). I am treating myself like a bunny.

One thing that has worked for me since I am injured and can’t do cardio anyway is planks and abs at home. (If I go to the gym I’ll get sued (workers comp is a pain in my hip)). Now, that doesn’t mean I’m where I want to be……but it has helped me with no blowing up right before the wedding.

Wilson2Bee:  I’m pretty into fitness. Number one, tummy fat is totally diet based. It’s different for different people. For me, cutting carbs, alcohol, and most dairy does the trick. To build muscle/tighten things up do tons of planks and burpees as well as squats. People who don’t get results from these workouts are often not using the correct technique. You have to hold yourself so that all of your muscles are engaged the entire time. After about 15 seconds of planking you should feel the burn (if you’re just starting out). Work your way up in time each day. I started by trying to do 5 minutes a day in 30 second incriments. Now I can do 3 minutes straight. Look up reputable videos online about technique so that you aren’t wasting your time. Good luck! (If you want a good reference check out NerdFitness, I find their advice to be reputable)

I lost a fair amount of weight recently based mainly on my diet, like others have said. The main thing with me was portion sizes. I used the myfitnesspal app to track calories which helped me a lot just because I realized how much I was overeating without even knowing it. I also drank  green smoothies as a meal replacement for breakfast and ate a larger, healthy lunch. Then did zumba for a workout. I had a harder time convincing my FI to eat the healthy meals and we share dinner so I did an unhealthier dinner but a small portion of it plus my own veggie side. I was able to lose about 30 pounds in 3 months just with that routine. So I would definitely say to focus on diet. You have plenty of time!

Wilson2Bee:  Hey! Glad you found some! There are thousands of HIIT cardio workouts that you can do on treadmill, stationary bike, eliptical etc. It basically functions on the idea of “suprising” your body, you alternate resistance, speed, incline etc to keep your body guessing and burning fat. This also allows you to do shorter workouts, with better results. Steady state cardio ( like running at 6.0 km/h for 20 minutes or whatever time interval) is good, great aerobic exercise and you will see results especially if you begin after not exercising for a while. But, as your body gets used to running/walking that, it will stop burning as much fat. Alternately, if you don’t want to think about it THAT much, running outside is EXCELLENT especially if you are changing natural inclines and speeds to suit the environment around you. I know a lot of ladies on here have said ab exercises, but until you lose the unwanted fat off your midsection, having larger ab muscles will increase the size of appearance of your stomach (which I think is the opposite of what you want). Best of luck to you!! 🙂

CocoLoco523:  Well for the most part…. of course I add my grilled chicken in there…. a boiled egg here and there…. but yes, I’m eating nothing but green lately. And water water water and more water. Tea at night…. black coffee in the morning (either that or I bite…. I’m vicious without my java). I gain weight very easily (unfortunately…..) and with surgery approaching and the wedding 44 days away, I have to really keep my eating as clean as possible.

The only reason why I eat Tabouli too is because my FMIL’s house is on my way home from work and that woman spends all day cooking so I stop by for my salad. She is of course also on a diet haha.

MrsPiggles:  oh ok, lol. Glad to see you are eating other things too. I’m all for eating clean! Just need more diverse nutrients. I’m the same way with coffee. I’ve tried to give it up, but man do I get cranky without it. Especially when I get up at 5am!
