i was so happy when i ordered my dress, i had lost 15 pounds at that point and it looked amazing. since then i have i have gained back 2 pounds and so now i have 5 to lose, instead of the last 3!
but i am so unmotivated these days to stick to my diet or exercise. how do you push yourself for those “last 5”
my dress is due in February and i would LOVE to be at my target weight when it arrives!
i need motivation bees.

what are you doing now/how have you lost the 15 pounds? the last 5 are always the hardest…add on 15 minutes to your exercise and don’t skip weight training.

Keep drinking lots of water, cut out sodas/ juice, add a salad with vinegar dressing to the beginning of your meal so you don’t eat as much 😀

Depending on the what your last 5 means it could be anything. What I mean is, are you looking to get down to the low range of the “healthy range” for your height, or is it your own number that is a little higher up on the scale.
If its the first, then maybe its more about your body composition and not the actual number on the scale. You may want to turn more of it to muscle and therefore, be smaller (per volume muscle takes up less space)
If you focus more on fitness and measurements rather than the number when you are this close to your goal you may find it easier to attain. The last bit of weight is always the hardest and exercise becomes even more important.

Wasn’t that you in the bridesmaid dress? You don’t look like you have to lose any weight!

the last 5-10lbs are always the hardest!
if you can afford it, get a personal trainer to shake your exercise program and set goals

spanx. that’s my last 5 lbs 🙂

@Belle2Be: yes, that was me and i know i don’t NEED to lose weight. but the last 5 would come off in my “problem” areas – hidden by dresses, but i will be on the beach every other day besides my wedding!
@kitzy: i lost the first 15 by seeing a nutrionist. i always ate pretty healthy. it was about portion control and cutting out the snacking at night. usually i have been good with exercise too. but its just for the past couple of months i have been a total bum and unmotivated! i have tons of other stuff going in addition to wedding planning (I am internship full time and working on my dissertation and i am a teaching assistant part time), so its just hard to keep up with it all!
anyone else just lose motivation when you were almost there and how did you get it back?

I used to weigh 300 lbs and lost the weight with exercise and counting calolries. Write everything you eat down and how many calories what you ate had to see where you can cut out some calories. Don’t go below 1200 calories and even more than that if you are exercising a lot. Maybe put pictures of your dress on your desk at work and on the fridge or wherever you think you might need the reminder 🙂

@mcnetn3: Haha. I love your answer. That’ll probably be me when I get married.

@CruiseWedding2010: you’re right, my nutritionist had me keep a food journal and while we can’t explain WHY it works, it just does. i guess i just need to keep up until the very end.

I think it’s because you don’t realize sometimes how many calories you have really eaten, when you just calculate in your head, we “forget” some things 🙂

I was going to suggest the Food Journal that is something I am going to start doing myself. I am VISUAL person and I sometimes need to see things! I think this will dramatically help me!
I am hoping to lose about 40lbs before our wedding!
