I am usually a happy-go-lucky girl! I really feel INCREDIBLY blessed to have the family I have and my wonderful, affectionate, loving fiance. He wants to marry me as fast as possible, and I have to say, he’s a total hunk. Today I am dress shopping with my Mom, and bringing my Dad along too (we’re all really close) and I know they will think I look beautiful and be very proud!
I should be SO happy, but I can’t get passed how much I don’t want to try on dresses because I feel so fat right now. I feel so stupid! I am blessed in so many ways, and the reason I need to pick a dress quickly is because he wants me to live with him asap, I do too, but man I can’t get passed this anxious feeling about trying on dresses in the shape I’m in.
I feel stupid, vain and ashamed!!

No no no…its totally normal…or maybe it isnt…and we are BOTH just weird *laugh*
I felt the same way as well. It didnt help that the day before i left my co-worker told me to go to Bryans Bride as they have lots of plus size dresses (I hadnt considered byself plus size until she told me that!!) I was soooooo un enthused about going I actually cried that night cause i was soooo stressed.
My advice…..forget about those feelings…they are totally valide feelings but sooo un necessary.
When you put on the right dress all your insecurities go away, they make you feel so beautiful (and mine even made me feel skinny).
Just have fun 🙂

Don’t feel stupid! That is just reinforcing your negative feelings. Instead, just go into shopping with an open mind, and heart and know that you WILL feel beautiful on your wedding day!
Remember that you are gorgeous, and when you FEEL beautiful, you will radiate that on your big day.

Aww hun! *hugs*
I’m so sorry your feeling this way. You need to just breath and stop scaring yourself before you even try on a single dress. I know when I went to try on dress I was so nervous that they would look horrible on me and ya know what I was wrong. Just about every single dress I tried on made me feel like a million dollars! It’s hard to think badly of yourself when your wearing something so pretty. Quit psyching yourself out and have fun!

Don’t worry – I am sure there’s a reason why your finacee adores you – and that’s because you’re lovely just as you are! No one should be made to feel this way about their body – you never even mention if you are plus sized in your original post, so I am assuming this is more a personal feeling than an actual reality. Designers should make dresses to fit you, and not the other way round. Just enjoy the experience, you only get to do it once in your life – you’ll rock that dress right to the altar…

Honestly…I felt that way a bit when I started. But it was so exciting!!! And let me just tell you than there are so many dresses out there that suck you in and make you look so thin! Seriously….I did not think my waist was that tiny until I was trying on dresses! You will absolutely be a gorgeous bride, so no need to add MORE stress onto this wedding planning than there already is!

I think most brides feel that way! It’s not stupid at all! But trust me…we all come in different shapes and sizes and we always end up looking fabulous at the end!!!
