@lightmist:  Welcome!  WE eloped!

Is Vegas somewhere you’d like to vacation to?  I have been to Vegas and I do not think I’d describe the place as “low key” or good for “low key” couples.  It’s just so ‘in your face’ to me!

What are you looking for besides good food?  DO you want city, beach, country, mountains, etc?

Pick somewhere you’d always want to vacation at, and THEN look for some kind of elopement deal – rather than the other way around.

For us, we really wanted views – like views of mountains.  So we decided upon a place that had great views (there are so many options – that was the hard part).  We toyed with the idea of national parks, like the Tetons or Yosemite, etc.  From there we decided to go somewhere NEW that we both haven’t seen before.  Then also somewhere FAR but we could still drive to.  That is how we decided upon the Canadian Rockies.

I ran across this elopeent package in the Adirondacks once.  It looked like our style, but we love the West more than the East, but it still looked lovely!

@lightmist:  Not sure if this is even your cup of tea, but does Mackinac Island or the upper islands of MI sound of interest to you?  Adirondacks in NY?  Do you want to drive there, or would you be OK with flying/renting a car?  Driving does make things easier.

@lightmist:

What is your budget like?

There are some very nice hotels:

Wynn, Palazzo, Venetian, Encore, Planet Hollywood have the BEST rooms.

Why don’t you turn it into a wedding/immediate honeymoon?

A friend of mine went to vegas and got a decked out suite, decorated with flowers, and had an officiant and a tripod set up to record their ceremony. Then they had room service come deliver. Following they had a limo ride (limos in las vegas are SOOO common not expensive, extremely competitive prices) throughout the strip and attended a cirque du soleil show. The hosts saw a beautiful girl in a wedding dress and a handsome groom in a tuxedo and upgraded their seats and they were mentioned in the announcements during the show so the audience cheered for them!

They got people along the way to take pictures for them with their camera to document dinner  (i.e. room service delivery man) limo driver for the limo, and surrounding audience during the show!

I went on a cruise on the hornblower in San Diego, very awesome cruise with great dinner and a DJ that takes requests all the time. A couple got married on the top viewing deck with the captain. They were there by themselves and everyone that was on the boat was partying with the bride and groom that they didn’t know!

All in all, marriage certificate was like 60 dollars and cruise with celebration package is like 200 dollars. Very memorable.

@lightmist:  Have you considered Miami or the Florida Keys? People who are not Florida residents can marry without any waiting period, so that would be my suggestion. I may be biased though, bc Miami is my hometown 🙂

There are also some great elopement packages down in the Keys.

Here’s my suggestion: fly down to Miami, rent a car, and roadtrip down the Florida Keys or Key West (it’s a really nice roadtrip). You can book a sunset/champage cruise in the keys and get married there. The food in the Keys is phenomenal, if you like seafood 🙂

We seriously considered eloping too, but our families were not having it!

Good Luck!

We’re getting married at the Wynn Hotel in Vegas and going to Maggiano’s for dinner and then hanging out on the strip. Not exactly an elopement because 5 other people are attending, but it’s a lot cheaper than the 110 person event we were going to have in MD. There are some nice places in Vegas to get hitched, I can’t wait to get there lol.
