Well, if you can’t sell it (have you tried positing it to many sites, including craigslist?) and you cannot afford the other dress, then just accept fate.  I’m willing to bet that after your dress is altered you will feel MUCH different about it!  It will feel better and you will be more confident looking at something that is tailored.  I wouldn’t worry too much about it.  Your dress is beautiful!

I think your dress now is really pretty. I would buy if i had money, I hate my dress also.

I think the dress you have on is very pretty, but you still have a few months to go, perhaps youll get lucky and someone will buy it from you before its time for alterations. Definitely post it on craigslist though.  Perhaps drop the price a little if possible.  Good luck to you.

Think about it this way, if you can sell your current dress for $500 (which is a steal and should be much more doable than asking for closer to what you paid), you will break even and wind up with a dress that you love more. Yeah, the Maggie is worth more, but is that worth being disappointed in your dress if the other one makes you happy?

I had so many dress dilemmas – believe it or not, i have actually bought three! The first was one I bought on the internet and I had a phobia about going into bridal shops aged 40 (1st time bride). Loved this dress but after a while decided that i’d missed out on the whole shopping experience, so then the search began.

After visiting a few shops I just cvouldn’t decide between 2 of them, even after looking endlessly over photographs. One was practically double the price of the over, but even that didn’t help me decide. Every day i decided each of them was THE ONE. In the meantime I ordered another off the internet which I’d seen but ended up returning it.

Anyway, cut to the chase .. out of the two, one I had tried on several times, the other was one of the first ones I tried on so decided to go back and see how I felt about it. Well that was it, I’d forgotten just how fab it was so ended up finally making the decision (yes, it was the dearer one)

So, here’s how I sorted the finances. The original one is on Ebay and I financed the 2nd one with an interest free credit card that i’m just paying the minimum off each month in the hope that the Ebay one sells before interest free period runs out. This might be an option for you but like the others say .. once its altered, hair and makeup done, I’m sure you’ll love it.

If anyone wants my first dress, please look at UK website “damsel in a dress”. Its the kate wedding dress and I’m selling it for £285 or make me an offer!

You are not alone and dont feel silly for one second! I also am having dress regret, and a my sister thinks I’m crazy because I already bought the dress and its so pretty and blah blah its just a dress. NO its not just a dress. The way you feel on your wedding day is very important, you should feel comfortable and the most beautiful you’ve ever felt in your life! Both dresses are gorgeous, but I say do whatever it takes to get your dream dress. GOOD LUCK!

I was a 3 dress bride so I understand your feelings.

Your dress–your seamstress wants it this month? My fittings started in mid-August for an early October wedding. She can wait another month or two. Did you get an estimate yet? If alterations are going to put you back $300+….

Your dream dress–this is $749 on the DB website. The bra and crinoline are another $100ish?  These have been worn and altered. In the pre-owned world they shouldn’t be more than half original retail, which means about $425. I would offer her $400 max. DB dresses are a dime a dozen second hand–sad but true and i have carnal knowledge:) Be careful about the bra. Long lines fit differently so try the same one on in the store to make sure the size is right first.

Get your dress no matter what. I know money is tight but you can cut back somewhere. Also try preownedweddingdresses.com, classifieds on Weddingbee and the knot, etc. I’m assuming you never sell the Maggie, but that is worse case scenario…
