Im trying really hard to find a unique guestbook idea thats not just people signing their names in a book.. i also dont want it to be over the top expensive. soo.. I have this really old door, antique door that i was going to put up in my house, possibly as a headboard, etc.. anyway, i was thinking about using that as my guestbook! have everyone sign this cool old door, that way ill have it up in my house and be able to see all their signatures anytime i want. Tell me what you think, if you have a better idea definitely let me know! 🙂

I wouldn’t want something as decor in my home that had signatures all over it. I think it sounds romantic but I doubt that you would be using it a few years from now.
What about having them sign the back of the door, so you can look at the signatures when you want to?

I think it’s a cute idea BUT you want to keep your guest book forever, are you going to keep that door for like 50 years?! If you say yes I say go for it but if you don’t think you’ll hold onto it forever I think you’ll regret it.

I like it. I think you can reuse the door in a number of ways if you change your mind about using it as a headboard. You could throw a sheet of glass over it and use it as a desk or table.
Alternately, if it has panels, you could cut out the panels and do inserts that you have the guests sign, and then you could swap them out with photos, upholstery etc if you ever got tired of seeing the signatures.

Hmm well it sounds cute in theory but I don’t know how I would like it once it was complete.
When I think of signatures/writing on a door I think of teenage boys and their rooms where all their friends write on the doors and walls etc in sharpies of various colors. To me it can end up looking very messy.
If you want something to display why not consider a photo for people to sign? That is what I am doing. We choose our favorite e-pic and the guests will sign the matte. Just an idea.

Yeah i plan on holding on to this piece for a long time if not forever, its special to me 🙂 and it will be even more special to me with everyones signatures on it. @bakerella: i plan on reusing it in many different ways. theres lots of possibilitys.

Does anyone have any ideas for anything untraditional and unique? I just want something to reflect us

I wouldn’t want my wedding guests’ signatures over my bed. Kind of a mood killer.

I think it’s a neat idea for something in the home, but the logistics (who is going to move that big heavy door on wedding day?) seems like it would be a problem.

@atalante.. Well im having the door there for decoration regardless, Which i can move myself, its not really a big deal. If i dont use it for the guestbook then ill be hanging pictures of me, my fiance and our families on it 🙂 so its going to be there anyway

@bakerella: I like this idea.

I think it is fun and different.

@bakerella: THIS is a good idea, and i LOVE the door idea, but I don’t think i would use it as a headboard with all those signatures on it, I don’t know… That is just something I wouldn’t do.
But i do think this is a FABULOUS idea, and if it fits your personality (which obviously it does) then go for it! That is something people will talk about for a long time I think.
