I want to propose to my partner this summer. I’ve been looking for months and think I may have found the right thing but man this is hard! I really want it to be perfect.
My sleuthing has produced the following things regarding her feelings on rings
-must be ethically sourced
-likes natural symbols (flowers, leaves, twigs)
-Would worry if I spent too much (but cost is not an issue from my end)
-She works with horses so has to be reasonably practical
-She’s not a super glitzy girl…not fussed about diamonds etc.
I’ve been looking at patrick irlas stuff and really like his hydrangeas for example but hate the thought I may have missed something so thought I would just pop up a post to see if anyone had any bright ideas about where I should look.

Do you know what kind of stone she would like to have? I know you said ethically sourced and that she’s not fussy about diamonds, does she want a diamond or maybe a sapphire or alternative stone? Are you looking towards finding something online, or do you want more of a store that you can walk into?

There was a post the other day about this Etsy seller: http://www.etsy.com/shop/anjaysdesigns?ref=seller_info
The work is stunning and incorporates the elements you mentioned. If you went with a gemstone, moissanite or Canadian diamond center stone, you wouldn’t have to worry about the ethics portion.

I’ve seen some gorgeous twig inspired rings – let me see if I can find them!

I think a bezel set round is STUNNING and would work well for people who work with their hands since there’s no prongs to get caught up on. It also covers just about all of your bullet points. Just sayin’ 🙂

This one is cast from a real twig, and you have the option to put a diamond alternative (like an aquamarine) in the center:
The bezel set would be good for making sure it is not constantly snagging on things.
This is another pretty option, a bit simpler:

Also, here’s some Etsy searches that have tons of beautiful options (hopefully all these links work!):

@inspiredcreations: Here is the WB thread for that seller, there were a lot of red flags and the OP decided not to risk it, but some alternative sellers are mentioned in here:

reccommend getting an asha stone or a moissanite both are ethically fine ;]
you can research moissanite on here and asha on betterthandiamond.com forums

I’d try to do some more sleuthing to figure out if she would like a colored stone or a white stone (there are some great non-diamond white stones ). Then you can know what stone you’re working from. A non-diamond would be ethical, economical, and different!

@Over the Moon: Ooh, good catch! I never did follow up with the thread; just loved the designs!

@inspiredcreations: That’s what I figured, I do the same thing too, bookmark or pin something mentioned on WB then never come back to the thread. 🙂

Mine is the twig one above…it is made from recycled gold and the diamond is Canadian
