Aww you are such a sweet friend.  My friends threw FI & I a surprise engagement party and I loved every moment of it.

Here’s a recipe I made over Memorial Day weekend for Sangria – warning though – this bad boy is wonderfully delicious and POTENT!  I recommend maybe throwing in some ginger ale to keep the night from ending too quickly lol:

Our friends had us play the Shoe Game, which was a total surprise and they made the questions up themselves so they got…interesting lol.  We definitely got asked all sorts of embarassing questions but none so terrible that we were mortified.  Then all the couples played the Newlywed Game.  It was a blast.

Other than that, everyone potlucked – one person made guacamole, another brought beer brats, another baked beans, etc.  Great way to cut cuts and still have a delicious variety of foods.

Sounds like you’re going to throw a fabulous party Smile

it all depends on the couple!  i’m fairly low maintenance so my sister just got some finger foods, a standard cake, and made cosmos.  she then decorated the room with christmas lights.  it looked awesome.  it was a surprise party and i was just so blown away.  we ended up just hanging out and chatting that night before going out dancing.

there’s no reason the party has to burn a hole in your pocket.

well, party city is having great sales at the moment, also, as far as food….think bulk/cheap…one thing that always get the crowd, cookies…cheap and delicious. another good idea is if u have anyone in the fmaily who does a “specialty” desert, ask em too…like my mama does homemade pecan pies…. and FIs mom does this dirt cake thing…its alot of food and cheaper homemade. also, a good idea is subway(or any sub shop)…. i know this sounds nuts but all their party platters are is a bunch of foot longs cut up. go find a coupon, maybe a dollar off…go get 4 of em cut them into equal 4s. just get cheese and meat on em and get some packets on the side…. sometimes u can find those coupons that are buy a footlong get one free…. and you could also go to the companies website…tell them you had bad service at a subway, and they will send you coupons in the mail because they want u to return…devious? yes but it works….. cvs normally has chips buy a bag get one free….hhmmmm…what else. oh… never have i ever is a great drinking game, u go around in a circle and say never have i ever …fill in blank….and if u have, u drink….its can get very funny…and its free!! well, besides the alcohol.
