I would wait even longer if possible!! FI and I are gonna try for four years from now, so we have time to adventure as a married couple around the world and all and get all the things done we want to do before we start, but everyone has a different plan!

But my “HAVE BABIES NOW” clock has been going off since I was like, 16, so I totally understand where you’re coming from!!!

@Bao: My only thing is this…If I got pregnant before my wedding I couldn’t/wouldn’t want to drink at my wedding. Not sure if you’re having alcohol or anything, but that is my only drawback to being “a little” pregnant on the wedding day!

@Bao: Lucky for me our best friends just had a baby, and there are two more on the way from other friends of our so I think I’ll just get my “baby fix” through them and it should help hold me off a while πŸ˜‰

We starting TTC after our wedding, and I got pregnant soon after. I was also in your shoes, wanting to start a little earlier. I’m glad I didn’t though, because I wouldn’t have been able to partake in the partying afterwards and on our honeymoon. Also, first trimester sucks more than I ever thought possible. You don’t want to deal with being tired and feeling like crap during the wedding and honeymoon (if you are having one).

@Marriedandlovingit: Agreed.

You might want to just have a glass of wine or something to toast and people might wonder why you aren’t having any, and start guessing early. (I personally wouldn’t want to tell anyone that early about pregnancy- call me morbid, but my cousin did this and had a miscarriage and it was just heartbreaking.) Also, morning sickness probably won’t start that early but you could still have some symptoms that make you uncomfortable.

When I got really bad baby fever looking on line at shelter puppies really changed my focus and helped me not think about babies.The poor little homeless puppies with no one to love them… πŸ˜€

We are over a year from our wedding and as of right now the plan is to try until January and if it doesn’t work out we are going to stop and then try again right before the wedding. I am not a big drinker and if I cannot drink at my wedding I don’t really care. I want to start a family and so does my FI.

Good luck!

as a nanny, I have to tell you – nannying newborns makes the baby rabies worse.

nannying a toddler, however, gives you more of an inkling to wait a lil longer. πŸ˜‰

I would wait. yes you want a family and I understand that it is awesome. But I would give you and your FI some time to be married and have your honeymoon phase. Dont get me wrong children are great, but they do change everything. Settle into your new life before you start adding to it!!

I would wait until after your wedding, so you can enjoy your wedding and honeymoon. That way you won’t have to worry about not drinking or trying to avoid drinking, and you won’t feel tired and crappy. Start trying on your honeymoon, that’s what I’m hoping we’ll do!

Everyone says to enjoy married life before adding kids, but we’ve been living together for the last 4 years, done tons of travelling etc. so I’m not worried about that…
