...but then I got a cold. I was already feeling it yesterday, now it's definitely coming in full force. I'm sitting here feeling slightly cold, clogged up, drinking lots of tea and eating gumbo. What tips do you have for it to go away quicker? Have any of you exercised through a cold?

If it's just in my head, I will exercise through a cold - not insanity level, of course, but I'll do some light cardio indoors. If it's below my head, I generally ride it out with cold meds, tons of water/tea and soup :)

Thanks! It's only in my head right now, but I was feeling generally weird throughout my body earlier today. I think I'll do some yoga later today and see how I feel after that. Tomorrow I may be doing ballet, so that's not too much cardio :)

I'm starting Insanity tonight! I'd try the cranberry juice method. I usually work out through a cold depending on how bad it is.

interesting, what's the cranberry juice method? Right now I'm just drinking guayusa tea with raw honey and later tonight chamomille tea...

oh haha thanks! Yeah I just drink emergen-c :) orange juice also works! But I'm trying to stay off too much sugar...

On another note, are you taking before and during/after pictures? I'm thinking of taking some in sports bra and shorts, just to check my progress!

@squeak:  Not a bad idea! I hadn't really thought of doing taking pics. This is a first for me to say but I'm not really too heavy. 5'2" and 125. Lost a lot of weight through proper diet- used to be in the 145-150 range. I just need a workout that doesn't have the same cost as a gym or require weights to help me tone up before a wedding in May.

I agree, if illness in only in your head you can exercise, but if it's in your chest then you shouldn't!

it's not in my chest yet so I guess I should! My boyfriend says the same thing, he says I'm just making excuses, lol. I might try it tonight, or I might do yoga. Not quite sure just yet.

@jpalm13:  I'm 5'3" and about 125 as well. Used to be 115, then I piled up pounds this past year, now I'm trying to get back to around 110, although I care less about my weight and more about my appearance. I can no longer fit into most of my jeans (especially skinny ones), I used to wear a size 0, now I'm squeezing into size 2's. And I'm tired of wearing slightly baggy shirts to hide my pudge :)

When SO says 'Your boobs are getting bigger," its a good time to start working out again! My pants are a bit snug and I reallllly don't want to be the bridesmaid who's dress is just a bit too small!

Is anyone else doing Insanity on here? We should create a tracking thread of some sort for motivation

As long as I don't have body aches usually working up a good sweat makes me feel better and opens my sinuses.

Nothing gets rid of weight faster than long distance running (which I find slightly boring after about 5 miles) or boxing. I've been boxing competitively for 4 years. Not that you have to compete, plenty of people come to class who have no intention of ever doing it. So it's a great cardio workout that burns fat, and tones your core and arms at the same time. And there's no harm in learning to throw a good cross should you ever need it.

My dear SO is now taking bets on which one of us quits first. He thinks all of us can't make it two weeks....ready to prove him wrong??

haha my husband is doing it too. Both of us thought we were gonna die during the fit test...

We're both in relatively good shape, but this is unlike our normal workouts...so it's a huge challenge! We're going on our HM in 2 weeks, so we're going to have to take a little break, but hopefully we'll hop right back onto the bandwagon!

    Happy sweating!!

Aww yay let's start an insanity thread!

I didn't end up doing it today, I really was feeling too under the weather to do something as extreme as insanity. But I did do some light training and stretching, and I meditated/did a little yoga which made me feel A LOT better. Tomorrow I'm coming home late at night but I think Wednesday will be my first day! Given that I took such good care of myself today I think the cold is going to go away :)

I hope you feel better soon! Get lots of rest and take care of yourself!

Thanks! I felt kinda bad yesterday, and today it's definitely heading down. I had dance practice last night which made me feel good initially but it got worse after a while. Now I'm weak everywhere and sore and just feeling so blah...it's definitely another yoga day, looks like Insanity may have to be pushed back to next week! How are you ladies doing?

I'm doing well, but I'm so used to working out for longer that I sorta feel like a failure! I still can't get through a whole workout with stopping for breaks...it's so hard! Tonight is Cardio Recovery...maybe my calves will stop burning tomorrow...

I exercise through all my colds until it gets hard to breath (exercise induced asthma).  For me, standing up and moving around opens my airways until I push it too far.  My threshold is lower when I'm sick.

YAY FOR INSANITY!!! I'm a beachbody member too, we've done ChaLEAN and Insanity; he's done P90x (1&2).
