Yes this is another dress post. Please forgive me.
I'll get right to the point.
I thought I liked mermaid/tighter fitting dresses, and my first time trying dresses that style is all the bridal girls had me try on. This time around, I insisted on trying on a ball gown, and guess what? Now I'm even more confused about this dress business!!! I almost teared up with the tulle gown on....while I had no reaction with the other ones.
Anyway, I'm not getting a dress until like March of next year BUT I would like your honest opinions on the next dresses. Which one gives you the "Wow" factor?
Dress #1 (Amsale - Sabrina) : The one that changed how I feel about ball gowns (It's kind of an A-line but not really). Don;t mind the belt, we put on a sparkly one over the already existing ribbon so it looks funny. I would order it with no belt and put my own.

Dress #2 (Marisa gown): The shape I thought I wanted, but I'm not so crazy about the bottom.

Dress #3 (another Marisa gown): Safe, lace and flowy dress. The bridal attendant said a lot of people order it (so that turned me off too) I liked it, but didn't love it. It was safe...so I'm not sure.

Dress #4 (Paloma Blanca 4202) This dress I absolutely did not want to try on, but when I did, my mother and MOH loved it. They loved the top part, and the bottom was growing on them.

So....we have ball gown, A-line, and two mermaid styles.
Bees, which one do you prefer? Should I pick a Sexy (mermaid) dress OR a Princessy (ball gown) dress?? None of these would be IT, but just for future purposes.
Thank you so much for your help! :)
They are all nice, but none of them really grab me. You still have plenty of time to look, so keep your options open. :) Of the general cuts, I think #3 is the most flattering bottom section for your figure while the true sweetheart neckline of the last dress is the most flattering top section.
@Mimoza: I think number one is gorgeous on you :) They're all nice dresses, but number one stood out the most to me. Good luck!
The ball gown is my favorite by far. You look gorgeous in it. That's the one!
I really like the Amsale A-line, too, but I absolutely love the Paloma Blanca on you! It's gorgeous, and it looks spectacular on you!!
I think 1 and 4 are most flattering, but I don't like the bottom to number 4. I picked number 1 because it's beautiful, but none of them wow me. You may want to try on Pergola? It's an a-line, but lace. It's gorgeous. Another bee just posted her recap with the dress http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/our-romantic-and-intimate-wedding-a-dream-come-true-lots-of-pics
I chose #2 only because I think it flatters your figure the best. However, none of them jump out at me really. I think A-line or fit and flare would flatter you the best. If you want a ballgown though than go for it. But you have beautiful curves and I think the more fitted at the hips and then flaring out that A-lines and fit and flares are look best on you. Just MO though.
@lovekiss: Thanks for the shape advice! :) And yeah you're right - there is so much time left so I'll def take my time.
@CupidsVictim: Yeah? That's what I thought too! Thanks. :)
@stillme: & @Brielle: Thank you lovelies!
Just as a side note, I was wearing the worst strapless bra at the time so the tops all look weird...also the dresses were too tight on my butt! :P
I like the fourth one best, but I'm not a fan of the bling detail. I think something more straight would work better with the ruching. The first one looks great too. But I suggest keep shopping. You have time anyway. If nothing blows you away you can always come back to one of these.
They are all beautiful, but I love the first the most!
@futuremrsk18: Thanks for the link! I absolutely love pronovias and the Pergola is stunning!! I will give it a try for sure.
@Lyndzo: :) :)
@NurseMandie: I agree with you - fit wise, #2 looked gorgeous on. It hid everything that should be hidden and highlighted other things brilliantly. But the bottom...ughh haha. Thank you for the compliments though! I appreciate it. :)
I really like number one as well. I think that it is beautiful on you. It sounds like you initially wanted something that is more figure hugging. Is that accurate?
@MASPA: Yeah, the bridal attendant just slapped that belt on me and I went with it but I wasn't crazy for it either - it's too wide and doesn't match with the rouching.
@Almost Mrs.P: Yeah, that was my reaction too. That's the only one i had the "wow" feeling on. It made me feel like I'm a bride, and it was all real!
@ggmproposal: Yeah exactly. The first time I went shopping, the bridal attendants only put me in tight fitting dresses, and i loved them all! However, none of them did it for me. so this time around, I asked for a ball gown, and they showed me the Amsale. It is not EXACTLY the dress I want but the shape is to my surprise. So now I'm torn between going the sexy vs. the princessy route.
There's a reason you wanted to tear up in the Amsale - it is GORGEOUS! I aboslutely love it :)
Out of these, the first one is my favorite. But I do like the fitted, mermaid look on you better. Since you have time maybe you could try on more of those? There might be one you like better than the ones you've tried on.
I like #3 the least (it's pretty, but it bores me)
@sarahbabs: Hehe Right? It's a fun girly dress. I guess I'm girly at heart....
@kes18: #3 bores me too. It's way too overdone and it also just looks safe like I said haha. I will try on more tight fits but I keep struggling with this idea of sexy vs princess. I will be a dress regret bride, I tell ya.
How should I look on my wedding day??? Gah. This is harder than I thought haha.
@Mimoza: At the very least I wouldn't get too worried about it because you still have a while before you are ordering it. FWIW, I never really thought about it I wanted to be sexy or a princess...just tried to find something that made everyone say "wow!" Sounds like out of these dresses it's #1 for you, but you have time.
I would just keep shopping and keep it light since you're not in a hurry! No need to feel rushed or discouraged at least
Love love love the last one. Please choose that lol it's so pretty on you
@kes18: That's a good point. I guess I'm phrasing my question this way because I got a WOW feeling from the ball gown whereas the tight fitting dresses just made me say "Its pretty but I don't feel like a bride"...So that's why I'm confused on the style. Also, if I don't narrow myself down to a style, I will never pick one haha I know myself
Random but, what does FWIW mean??
@malouloune: haha
thanks! It's funny because when I saw the dress hanging I immediately brushed it off but then when I put it on I was amazed that I kind of liked it!
The first one is the most flattering on you. I really like the belt and flowy nature as well.
I absolutely love sexy, mermaid dresses, so you know my pick! On those, however, I do not care for the bottom part at all.. You can definitely find sexy ones with a little less going on down there... Why not try my dress, Casablanca 1995 if you come across it?
I love 1 or 2. I had the same struggle with finding the fit I liked. I didn't want poofy but didn't want mermaid either. If you're stuck, you might want to explore trumpet fits too. It's kind of a good compromise between the 2!
I like the first one best, by far.
It's not that you look bad in the mermaid style. You don't. It's just that for some reason, none of them strike me as being half as bridal as the first one. In the first one, you look like a bride. That's probably why you teared up for that one, and not one of the others.
@Rubbs: Oooh that's super pretty! I like that. I do remember trying on a dress similar to that though, it was a pronovias, or maybe an enzoani. It felt amazing on and looked great too but I didn't feel anything with it on....This is it:
@Mimoza: You look gorgeous! But you definitely have to feel it. It will happen trust me. I must have tried on almost 100 dresses. And luckily everything looked good, but I needed that one that made me cry and feel absolutely beautiful and not second guess it. I wasn't stopping until I did. With your body, you can also wear anything and you'll look amazing!
@Kelly_mac: Same here. I'll look at trumpet styles. Thanks :)
@EffieTrinket: That's it. #1 felt bridal. It made me realize that I was in fact a bride...and I was in fact getting married. All the other fitted dresses made me feel like I could wear those dresses in any other color to another event. Not that I go to fancy events like that but you know what I mean. So it's not that I would pick #1 itself, but that style appeals to me. I just don't know if I should do that...maybe I'm not the right age for princess dresses like that (I'll be 25 when I get married).
@Mimoza: I def liked #1 the best! Your waist looks so tiny in it! You have a great figure and could prob wear a potato sack and look great but the first dress just says WOW! Good luck with your search!
@Anise: Will do. Btw, that is exactly what my mom kept saying :P she hates strapless. Knowing myself though, adding more choices will just inflate my confusion haha.
@Rubbs: Thanks girl! And I know what you mean about the fit - almost all of the dresses I try on look great!! It's me that's the problem lol
@angelicd77: You're very sweet thank you :) :) :) I like the way #1 makes my waist look also! Hmmm...potato sack. More options haha.
you look amazing in all of them really but i love that first one on you the best. no other dress compares.
pick the dress that makes you feel wonderful and makes you smile regardless of what anyone says.
I went in to dress shopping wanting a lace trumpet/mermaid and bought a taffeta ballgown. I've been married for 2 years and I still love my dress. :)
Trust your heart and your feelings on this one. That Amsale is incredible on you.
I love dress #2 on you but agree, find something with a different bottom! Of the dresses you posted I like #1 the best - it REALLY shows off your teeny tiny waist!
I like #1 and #2 best - #1 as the first!!!
You know I don't think everyone HAS to get the OMFG crying vision we see on SYTTD. I did not, so maybe that's why I'm saying it! My gown was still lovely and looked good on me!
@Mimoza: In the end, it really won't matter as long as you get a dress you feel comfortable and beautiful in. You mentioned you didn't like the idea of getting a dress that "lots of" other girls get. Most wedding dresses are strapless right now. If you want something that's a little different, something with straps or sleeves would definitely make your dress different.
I think at 25 you could still rock a big ballgown if you wanted to.
I don't think you love any of the 'picks' you have right now. It shouldn't be a matter of "oh I like the bodice to this dress and part of the skirt to that dress." Your choices should be from complete dresses that you like and are happy with.
