This is not an attack against you, but I have to emphatically disagree -- it's one of the main reasons I left MySpace for Facebook! I do not want to be surprised by music and glitter, and I don't want to wait 5 minutes for blinkies and graphics to load. It's bad enough that the applications take over the newsfeed; I swear I block a new one everyday. I miss the days of Facebook being more about communication than self-divulgence. I appreciate that Facebook is different than MySpace, and I think that different needs can and should be met on different websites.
I'm kind of glad there aren't glittery blinky things too. I got the new skins for Firefox which sort of dress up any webpage I go to though!
@ Amaryllis - Don't worry, no offense taken. I hadn't actually thought of that, but now that you mention it, it DID take forever to load sometimes. And yes, there was glitter. A lot of it, but not on my page. I don't care so much about the graphics, but maybe just let me make my background pink?
hehe.
I think you should be able to pick your own theme, like how igoogle works! that would be nice and refreshing! Or like you said, just a background color.... I hated going to someone's myspace who clearly messed up the html on their page and everything was jacked up and hard to read lol
I pretty much HATE myspace. It's the most useless website on the planet. I love Facebook, but every revision they come out with makes it worse and worse. Facebook 1.0 was great because it served a perfect purpose: show who you are and what you are doing in a snapshot. I actually like how uniform it is, so I can find what I'm looking for on my friends' sites. But all the new stuff...meh...not impressed.
Heh, I always wish my FB could be pretty-fied too, but I know it's for the best. I know I wouldn't go overboard, but I know a million others would lol I do with they could make it like the new Firefox browser templates. If FB could make so many you could choose from, but not let you make your own or add a billion ugly things, that would be much better.
Ya no it would just be myspace all over again and i would NOT be happy about that..
I used to spend HOURS making my myspace pretty and perfectly coordinated, so I'm happy that temptation doesn't exist for facebook! Eek, so man hours wasted. But I did have an awesome background/color combination :D
Amaryllis, I agree with you 100%. Couldn't have said it better myself.
Totally interesting point that I hadn't considered. I guess that would make it fun. I'm sure that's only a few changes away---they're always updating and improving.

Does anyone else think that the facebook pages are just...boring? That's the only thing I loved about MySpace (no longer have an account) is that you could truly personalize it and make it feel like YOURS.
I know facebook is the new myspace, but when my page looks like everyone else's it just kinda takes the fun out of it. They could at least have colors or SOMETHING.
