    Hi ladies,

So I'm in the process of making our guest list and I have a few questions about invitations.  I attend a large church that I grew up in. We are having a big ceremony and a cake & punch reception afterwards. We will then have a intimate dinner reception afterwards (100-130 people). We are going to post in the church bulletin an invitation to everyone in the church.

    1) I feel as if it is somewhat impersonal, so I think we should send a "save the date" kind of invitation (picture postcard with date and wedding website to RSVP) to everyone in the church that we want to make sure knows about the wedding.

    2) For everyone coming to the intimate reception we are going to send "real" invites

    3) For everyone not coming to the intimate reception that are not apart of the church (co-workers, family friends, etc) do you think it is ok to send them the same postcard kind of invitation?

My other question is about who to order the postcards from? I want the quality to be nice but if I am ordering 400 the price needs to be very reasonable. Has anyone tried just printing pictures with wording on them from somewhere like Walmart and then stuffing them in envelopes?

I would be grateful for some advice!!

I think that postcard-style invitations could be ok for the church members you want to invite.  I think if you need ~400, your best bet will be to use an online company like VistaPrint.  Few home printers handle small cardstock very well, and printing that many invitations would take you a long time, so your best bet might be to create the design and then upload it to an online printing site.  They are cheaper than someplace like kinkos.

    Hope this helps!

We had our STD postcards printed from vistaprint.  We didn't need that many but I know that the price gets lower per postcard when you have more.  You don't need an envelope to mail them if you just write the address on the back side of them.
