Hi everyone! There are 2 dresses that I love but I can't decide which one looks the best. I think the lace Casablanca dress is classy and romantic and the satin Sottero and Midgley dress is more modern and fun! I think about both dresses all of the time. I'm trying to go with my instinct but I'm not sure what my instinct is telling me. A woman working at the bridal boutique told me I looked dated in the lace dress. Please tell me what you think. Should I go with one of these dresses or do you recommend a different style? I greatly appreciate your opinions. Smile

I think you look beautiful and classic in the lace dress and it shows off your figure beautifully.  The satin dress is beautiful too, so you win whichever way you go, but the lace is my favorite.

Wow, they are both BEAUTIFUL dresses! I voted for #2 simply because it is more of the style that I prefer (modern/chic).  If I were you I would take some time to really think about what look you're going for -- and the style of the other elements in your wedding (flowers, BM dresses, centerpieces, venue, decor)... are you going more classic/romantic or more modern/simple.  Then choose the dress that matches! :) Hope this is helpful!! Either way you'll look goregous!!!!

I love lace and bought a lace dress, so you know which option I like best. :)

Also, the lady at the salon was totally rude. Every dress will date, so go with the dress that is timelessly stunning to you!

I LOVE the satin dress - it is absolutely gorgeous and looks fantastic on you!   The lace is very pretty as well and shows off your figure beautifully so really, you can't go wrong either way!  That satin dress though - sigh, if I hadn't already purchased mine....  Smile

Lace, definitely! Very classic and elegant. The satin is pretty but it looks similar to most other wedding gowns.

I think the second one is breathtaking on you - it has a great sense of drama about it. The lace dress is cute, but for me a little too safe.

What's this about lace being dated? Lace dresses are everywhere at the moment. I think lace will date better in the future too - the ruching and beading on Adorae is more trendy and modern, but lace comes into fashion more regularly.

Both fit you equally well so it's just a matter of personal taste, and what will fit best with the overall style and feel of your wedding. You really can't go wrong either way!

I usually don't care for lace, but you look gorgeous in that lace dress.  Plus the second style dress is so popular these days, I think the lace will stand out more...in a good way of course!  :)

The lace dress is incredible on you!  That said, I love the satin one (dress envy!), but I would definitely choose lace as the best look for you :)

Hrm.. I'd personally look for a more "modern" lace gown. Cuz the lace on this particular gown does resemble older laces. I really can't decide which gown I like better though! I love them both!

They both look beautiful on you, and I am pretty opposed to lace in general, so I have a biased opinion, but I think that you have the rest of your life to rock pretty, lacy dresses.  Funky and modern all the way!

    Absolutely, positively the lace!

But I may be biased. I'm not a fan of ruched and gathered dresses. The lace is beautiful and timeless.

ETA: I just noticed how you said the woman said the lace dress is dated. I disagree 100%. The lace dress is classic. The satin dress is very trendy and will probably be out of style in a few years.

I think you look beautiful in both dresses, but you pull the lace dress off so, so well. Sometimes lace dresses can look too busy on a girl, but it just looks effortless on you.

I like the lace...but I'm wearing a lace Casablanca myself, so I might be a tad bit biased! haha!

Seriously, the lace is timeless. The style is classic, and not dated at all. It's a new designer dress--how can it look dated???? Because of the clean lines, I think decades from now it will still look classic in the pictures.

The satin is beautiful... However, I have a feeling that this is a style that will be one that you'll be able to say oh yeah that's from around 2010. Whenever someone says something is modern looking, that tells me it won't look modern in a few years.

Lace FTW!  I am biased here too, I love lace and will mostly likely have a lace dress.  Sensual, classic, romantic, and ladylike all in one, that's how I see lace.  I agree with the others who say that the second dress is a lot like all the other dresses out there now. Pretty but doesn't say "unique".

It depends on your peronality too.  I'm a "lace" type of woman and have been all my life.  Love all things dreamy and romantic. :)

@superteacher: The wedding will be May 28th. The lace dress is really light and comfortable. I think I would be cooler in the lace dress because the satin gown has a lot of bulk underneath and it's not quite as comfortable.

*Thank you SO much for all of your comments. I absolutely love to hear your opinions. You guys are great!! :) This is so exciting!

I'm thinking if I didnt try on the exact lace dress, I tried on another dress very similar to it..from Casablanca...I don't think it looks dated. I think you look great in the lace dress. However, you should pick the one that makes you feel happy and not have to ask other's opinion.....
