I’ve tried to write back to this at least four times and I keep deleting what I’ve written – but I’ve got to say it.  It would break my heart if I were your coworker who just lost their job and knew you felt this way.  I’m unemployed for the second time in 18 months.  I would kill to have my hard, frustrating, underpaid long commute job back right now.

I hope you find some way to appreciate what you have and to work hard for the opportunity you have been given.

At least you still have a job, have insurance and are making good money!  I spend a good part of my day on Weddingbee also because things are just pretty slow here.  The other lady works alot but since I transferred to this location a month ago I dont have many events so I am bored most of the day.  At least this week I have work to do until about noon then sit around for 6 hours until I can go home.  Last week I got in at 9 and by 9:30 I was all caught up with everything!

ETA – I actually WANT to work, theres just not alot to do right now 🙁  Maybe you can talk to the person you work for and let them know you are available to help and ask for things to do?

Now I’m not saying you don’t already do this, but maybe take initiative.  Rearrange and clean up supplies (if you have them), make a spreadsheet of supplies, make yourself busy?

I think it’s awesome that you have a job and great health insurance!  But you just might want to be more sensitive to the fact that a lot of people don’t have a job or health insurance!  I was unemployed for almost a year before I found my job!  I feel so lucky to have health insurance back!

I don’t think the OP meant any bad intentions when she wrote this. It seems pretty obvious to me that she feels bad about how little she does, I mean hello she wrote that she feels GUILTY and the women put SODA in alphabetical order!! I think its insensitive to tell her she’s being insensitive.

@June – Don’t feel so bad, it seems like you are doing the best you can, and just b/c you feel like you don’t do anything someone obviously thinks you do. It seems like you manage to keep your plate busy and at least you have wedding planning to take up your day!
