Wilson2Bee:  I’ve never been so I don’t know if this will help, but…

When FI and I went on a trip to the DR a couple of years ago, we wanted the Iberostar Grand Bavaro but it was sold out. It had excellent reviews! Fast forward to this year, we were planning our destination wedding and our travel agent advised against iberostar, b/c she’s had a lot of clients get sick from the food there. However, travel agents have agendas (ie, they want you to go to their “preferred” resorts), and I don’t think IGB woudl have such good reviews if the food was that bad.

That being said, we stayed at the Majestic Colonial in the DR and loved it. It’s on one of the nicest areas of Bavaro beach.

Good luck!

Wilson2Bee:  Well, when we went, we were part of the Colonial Club, although we didn’t opt for that (it was the only thing they had available– BUT, since we booked it so late and didn’t have any other options, we didn’t have to pay the extra $$ to stay on the Colonial Club side. Our room was ocean view…I really can’t tell you what the name of the room was, just because (like I said), we chose the basic option, but luckily got put in an upgraded room.

While the food wasn’t the best thing we’ve ever eaten, it certainly wasn’t bad. We thought it was pretty good, and it was definitely edible- which apparantly in Punta Cana isn’t very common.

We went in mid-November, so it was mostly adults. However, kids are allowed and there are activities for kids.

Atmosphere was awesome! They have TONS of pool-side activities, dance lessons, and a theatre that puts on amazing shows (don’t miss the Michael Jackson show- incredible!).

LIke I said, it’s on a really good part of the beach. It was so beautiful, and I personally can’t wait to go back.
