@myweddingbee:  Love it and after the main course is served.

I love ice cream so I would be all over this. I would want this as a precursor to the ceremony. The earlier in the day your guests are outside the hotter it’s going to be. I usually arrive early as not to be late for a wedsing and yet the ceremony starts way, way after the stated invite time. If I had ice cream to munch on I wouldn’t complain one bit about the wait.

The one time I saw an ice cream thing at a wedding barely anyone went near it and those that did made a mess :/

I think it would be really cute before the ceremony or with the rest of dessert.

However, something to keep in mind with icecream is that IT MELTS. I have been to a few ice cream bars at differen events and more times than not the ice cream is so melted that most people didn’t even bother with it.

You could most likely have a cooler of some sort or even a small freezer at your venue to keep the ice cream cold until right when a guest wants some.

I think your ice cream bar sounds like a great idea as long as there’s some way to keep the ice cream frozen.

We’re having cold stone creamery do a portable stone.  They’ll have 5 ice cream flavors and 15 topings that they’ll mix custom for the guests.  Everyone we’ve told has been super excited about it.  And, we’re doing it completely instead of cake.

My cousin had an ice cream bar at their wedding. It was not nearly as awesome as the photos you have. I think if you have pre scooped ice cream it would be the best to avoid it getting all over the place

I love the idea, but any time I’ve tried to serve/let people serve themselves for a large group it ends up a huge brown, sticky mess especially if it’s outside. Not sure if this is feasible but perhaps try liquid nitrogen ice cream? It’s delicious and creamy, made instantly on the spot, stays very cold, and can be made into any flavor.

@myweddingbee:  The cart was brought out like right after dinner, so I think most pple were opting for cake instead of ice cream since they were full (and the hall was huge, so to have to walk over there from the dessert table made pple kind of have to choose).
