Has anyone ever made these things?
I want to bring them for a coworker’s birthday but I’m kind of worried that they’ll be a bigger PITA than it’s worth. Have any of you made these with sugar cones instead?

I made these years ago for one of my girl’s birthday. She is now in her early 30’s!
They work quite well but you can’t use sugar cones. A regular cone sits fairly well in a cupcake pan and that is how you make these. You wouldn’t be able to do that with a sugar cone.
Hint: Fill these very close to your oven so you aren’t trying to balance the cupcake pan and cones all the way across your kitchen.
All in all, they worked quite well! I didn’t have to transport them though and that could get tricky.

@hermom: Transportation is what I would be worried about.
I think if you frosted them at the location, then it would be a lot easier. You can transport them once baked on their side and carefully packed, then just frost there.

Yeah I’d probably frost at work, Seems safer! I think I’ll just go ahead and give it a go!

If you make holes in a cardboard box you can stick them in for transport (even already iced).
