Hey everyone! I was thinking about favors and was leaning towards not doing anything since I really didn’t want to drop a lot of money on something people may throw away. Then I had what I think is a great idea: I’m planning on letting guests know that instead of a favor, we’ll be donated to a local domestic violence shelter instead. I’ve volunteered at a number of different domestic violence centers and October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Just thought I would put this idea out there for those of you who may want to join me!

If you want to donate money, that’s awesome. But that is in no way a “favor” for your guests. It’s a piece of paper announcing you donated somewhere….how is that possibly anything that is for anyone but yourselves?
Sorry, but donations are never a gift for anyone but the people who you are donating to.
Also, I really don’t see why people feel the need to announce everywhere what they donated. That’s tacky.
If you don’t want to give your guests favors, don’t. But please do not donate somewhere under the guise that it’s somehow doing anything for your wedding guests either because it’s not at all.
