I’ve been reading the boards since before we got engaged and now it’s time to post something myself. I am Dutch and marrying a US Air Force officer. We currently live in Brussels, Belgium. Since we don’t have any direct family members here and all of our close friends aren’t living nearby, I’m organizing the wedding mostly by myself. Plus, my Dutch friends don’t really know anything about US weddings.
I am curious about your ideas about what should be included in a wedding. I’ve never been to an American wedding so I don’t know how it usually goes. Does anyone have a schedule/script for the wedding day? At what time does a wedding usually start and how does it go from there? I am interested in your American and/or military traditions, what not to forget etc. I know Pinterest I nice and inspiring, but not always realistic 😉 Which traditions are overrated and which ones do you think I definitely should include?
The things we already decided on: he will be wearing his mess dress, we don’t want any groomsmen or bridesmaids, my little brother will be the ring bearer, one of our friends will be the DJ for the night, the wedding will be indoors and possibly November/December/January and a (US) Chaplin will perform our ceremony.
Thanks in advance!
