As an adult, I’d hate this whole idea. Having a piñata for adults is awkward and weird. It’s even more out of place at a wedding. Putting glitter and condoms in it…. Ummm no. Just no.

Save the piñata for a kids’ birthday party.

Back to the drawing board!

Brimuz1992:  Are you going to be smashing it inside or outside? Glitter is a pain to clean up – and absolutely impossible to clean outside.

Mini bottles of alcohol are good (so long as they’re not going to break when they’re hit – the plastic ones would be safer than the glass, I figure). I would do fancyish chocolates – wine filled chocolates, ferrero rocher, individually wrapped truffles, etc.

Maybe you could also do things like key-chain bottle openers and lottery tickets.

I wouldn’t do condoms (unless it was a bachelor/bachelorette/stag-doe party and not a wedding) although your social group might find that more appropriate than mine would.

Glitter is horrific, don’t do it. It’ll end up in people’s eyes, in food and drink, etc.

I’d suggest that you reconsider and if you really want to do an adult-themed pinata, you have it at your bachelorette party.

This sounds like a fun idea for a bachelor/bachelorette party, or even a shower, but I’m not so sure people at a wedding are going to want to smash a pinata to get a face full of glitter.

This just sounds like a bad idea.  Glitter gets everywhere and is really annoying.  I’d be super pissed if I got dressed up nice and got covered in glitter.  Mini alcohol bottles could break or be damaged as they’re hit and fall to the ground.  Condoms could be seen as offensive, and I certainly would not want to be having a bag of condoms fall open at my wedding in front of my family.

I think doing a pinata reduces your wedding, which is a special, formal occasion, to a childlike birthday party.

Glitter is horrendous! You’ll be days and days attempting to sweep up the mess and your guests won’t be thrilled to get covered in it either. As pps have said, bottles will break and to be honest, condoms likely to be a weirdly inappropriate item which many people might be distinctly underwhelmed to receive!

I’d shelve this idea, to be honest.

Add me to the glitter is a horrific idea group!  It’s bad enough my daughter’s Disney costumes come with that crap glued all over them.  It gets everywhere and it is a mess.  I would not appreciate having it fly all over me when I am all dressed up.  I think the condoms are just tacky.  If you must do this, I’d keep it classy.  Nice chocolates.

I agree with Abbie that doing a pinata reduces your wedding from a formal occasion to a birthday party like atmoshere.

Brimuz1992:  I think its fun! But then, I’m cool like that 😛 I still have the occasional pinata at my birthday party haha. I wouldn’t put condoms in there. I mean, I guess it depends on the atmosphere of your wedding and who is there but its not really something I’d want to do with family around… and would anyone really get excited about condoms anyway? I certainly wouldn’t want to take any from a pinata hahaha. I like the idea of the teeny bottles but I would be worried that they would break. I think your best bet would be lollies/choc but higher end than you’d find in a kids pinata.

ETA: So I did a quick google image search to see if you could do one and still keep it classy. One idea was to make it like a paper pom pom which are pretty trendy for weddings atm anyway. Another idea I found was to fill it with little love notes?? I think as long as you have a young crowd, with lots of friends who know you well, it would be fun and you could pull it off- esp in a garden setting or something. I would be a bit more hesitant if it were mostly older folk/family in, like, a ballroom.

Brimuz1992:  I kind of like the idea. I hate most wedding traditions (i.e. garter toss, dollar dance, etc) but I’d do a pinata!

I’d do the small [plastic] liquor bottles, like a PP said lotto tickets, and fancier chocolates. Maybe some $5 gift cards too or something?

But if people are drunk I’d go easy on the spinning…

Brimuz1992:  Condoms? Ick. No. That’s only appropriate if it’s a Planned Parenthood sponsored pinata.

I’m also with the “no glitter, no condoms” crowd though.

Brimuz1992:  I don’t think adults at a wedding are going to be scrambling around in glitter for mini alcohol bottles and condoms.
