@mgraham:  Excellence playa mujeres! that’s where were going and is all-inclusive, adults only, with private rooftop pool. I know a lot of the sandals have private pools.

@mgraham:  I’ve never been there, but I THINK I saw a post indicating that Sandals Antigua offers an option such as that.

They have your criteria in many hotels in mexcico. There is Excellence Playa Mujueres and The Beloved Hotel. Excellence is adults only where the beloved not, but I reasearched both a lot and found the rooms in the beloved a lot nicer and cheaper than in excellence. They are both sister hotels and the beloved is a small boutique hotel right next to excellence.

You could also look for secrets maroma beach cancun all inclusive and for more $$ the rosewood mayakoba have some of the best rooms i have ever seen 🙂

I second the Excellence!  We also went to Playa Mujeres for our honeymoon….just got back a week ago.  It was totally amazing!  We have also been to the Riviera Cancun Excellence 3 times.  If I had to compare, we like the Riviera Cancun resort more.  The only real reason is we like the layout of the resort better, its closer to the airport (15 min vs almost an hour to Playa Mujeres), and its smaller so there arent as many people.  However, if you are looking for a private pool Playa Mujeres has waaaay more of the rooftop rooms to choose from.  One caution though….there is construction going on next door to the Playa Mujeres one.  You can’t really hear it unless you are in building #9 (excellence club building), but there were some nights that it contined until like 3 am.   but you cant really go wrong with either Excellence resort!

Our December honeymoon will be at Casa Velas Boutique Hotel in Puerto Vallarta, MX.  It is all-inclusive and adults only and our two-floor (!!!!!!!!!) suite has a private immersion pool, a private terrace, an indoor and outdoor dining area, and two bathrooms with a jacuzzi tub.

The Caves Negril (Jamaica) has an amazing deluxe villa with it’s own pool. The entire resort only has 13 rooms total so it’s very private and romantic!

I know this is an old thread but I have to suggest to anyone else that is now reading, the Royal Estate Villa at Sandals Emerald Bay at Great Exuma, Bahamas.  Beautiful, prestine, non-touristy island.  The Villa (there’s only one) is a huge, 2-story stand-alone 1 bedroom + office, 1.5 bath house right on the beach with it’s own infinity edge pool, hammocks, patio with loungers, big balcony upstairs as well that overlooks the ocean.  Wood floors, huge living and dining room with 3 sets of french doors that all open up onto the pool.  Butler service and short walk to all of the resort amenities.

OP – were did you end up going?

mgraham:  My FI and I are thinking about going to the Excellence Punta Cana. AI, Adults only, with honeymoon and terrace suites with rooftop pools overlooking the ocean. Also has 3 pools, large beach, eight restaurants, 10 bars. Seems like a good idea, still nervous to make a final decision!
