Boy or Girl?...
I found some cute baby shower ideas awhile back... posted them here on the baby boards =)

There are also other links at the bottoms of these individual pages so you can find even more =)
If you're a DIY type of person, diaper cakes are fun. I made this one for my sis. At the time we didn't know the sex (they wanted it to be a surprise) so I just chose random colors. Everything except the box (under the green fabric) and card was purchased at Walmart for about $30.

You can google or youtube tutorials to find out how to make one.
or you could make a diaper trike and have a little monkey riding it
Here's a link to the instructions

There are lots of great ideas online.

@thisismeAXiD: I JUST hosted my sister's baby shower so I have so many ideas for you! And it was a boy as well :)
Her colors were chocolate and teal, so we decorate with a few paper lanterns (white and brown ones) which added the "classy appeal".
We honored the parents-to-be with a cute photo montage: we made crepe garlands, and strung it along the railing (wall, ceiling, mantel, chairs etc), and clothes pinned pictures of the couple over the last couple years - everyone loved it!
As far as games: we've found that most people get sick of the traditional games - they think the candy bar in the diaper game is gross, the tell-what-kind-of-baby-food-is-it game - most people find it old. So I wanted to find somethings that would be different and fun. The all-time favorite game at the shower was a version of "Never-Have-I-Ever"
If you've never played the game before - here is how. For the baby version game, we put a piggy bank in the middle, and called it the "Baby Fund", everytime someone had done the thing that someone had said they'd never done, they had to put money into the piggy bank. At the end of the game, the mom-to-be gets to keep the piggy bank for her baby. I also brought extra change (roll of dimes, roll of quarters) for those that felt uncomfortable putting their change in. Everyone loved it! And it was so fun hearing what people came up with!
The other favorite was the "decorate a onesie game". We did it as a contest, and whichever were the mom-to-be's favorites, won. We used lemons, apples and potatoes to decorate, and used fabric paint, we had brushes and fabric markers too. Everyone loved it!
We made a diaper cake as well (if she'll be cloth diapering, you can use prefolds), and stuck little things in here and there, bottles, socks, washcloths, a book on the top - she thought it was so cute - and diapers are so useful!
I perused the martha stewart website quite a bit too - there is lots of great ideas there, especially for DIY!
It is helpful to find out from the mom-to-be as well what she would like. Some moms are very specific on what they'd like, others leave it completely up to hostess :)
PM me if you have any more questions!!
Here were some of our inspiration pictures:

just my 2 cents-- but if you do the diaper cake thing, make sure you know what kind of diapers they will be using.
@red_seattle: Great point! My sister received a package of diapers, cream, lotions etc but she was committed to using only organic or cloth diapers on her baby, so she ended up just giving them away!
Some people register for a few packs of the diapers they want, so you can usually check their registry.
@red_seattle: Ah yes, I forgot to mention that she should ask that. I actually had to change my color scheme to match the diapers she uses.
@thisismeAXiD Also, if you decide to do a diaper cake you may want to get size 1 or 2 diapers instead of newborn diapers so that she can display the diaper cake for a little while before needing to use them.
@miss-spunkin: I love the decorate a onsie game! The never-have-I-ever would be fun, but I'm the youngest one that will be there at 24...the next closest is like 35. I don't think the group will appreciate it as much as my sister and I will. But great games and ideas! Thanks a mill.
@thisismeAXiD: Haha well you never know, we had all ages at my sisters game. The youngest was 4 years old, the oldest was 72! Most were our aunts, great aunts, grandparents, and a few of my sister's friends. And everyone loved it! I found that the older generation loved it the most, they loved "picking on people" by choosing something they knew they'd done (like teasing my grandma about how much she loves to go to the casino :))
Good luck!!
