I like the blue poms, and they’re easy to make!  We’re having balloons with lights in them (way cool) floating in the ceiling of our tent.  They have tiny lights that don’t weigh the balloon down, so I got 48 of them.  They have little batteries and last for 8 hours; I think they’re reusable too, you just have to buy new batteries.

@Becky33:  Yea we’re using helium so they float up, but you don’t have to.  Here’s the link http://www.amazon.com/Darice-Non-Blinking-Mini-Party-Lites/dp/B002JPV51W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1343846524&sr=8-1&keywords=balloon+lights but my mom says you can find them at Michael’s too (then you can use a coupon!).  Pictures of what it will look like are further down where there are options to buy balloons pre-installed with lights (more expensive).

The beam part of your venue’s coffered ceilings doesn’t look that high. I like your idea of doing a few clusters of decorations- maybe over the head or sweetheart table, and over the dance floor.

I think the coffered celing is perfect for white mini lights. You could outline each square on the ledge with battery operated lights. You can get sets that come wtih a remote control, so easy peasy to turn on at the appropriate time.

The lights for inside balloons are called balloominators. They are about the size of a large vitamin. You drop them right inside the helium balloon before you blow them up. (The instructions say to blow up the balloon, tie it off, then insert the light in the stem of the balloon. They come with a clip to hold it there, but I have found that is much more fiddly and time consuming ). To turn them on you just find the battery through the balloon, and twist the light- turn it one way to make a flashing light, the other way for a steady light, or do some of each.
