- Wedding: February 2013
Hey Bees, I need help.
We have found our dream reception place. It is all booked in. We are getting married on the lawns over looking the ocean and then the wedding reception is in an upstairs room with beautiful views of the ocean looking out the large windows and a lovely big deck the guests can go outside on.
Now you think that would be all you need. But when it gets dark (which will be about 8.30 because it will be summer and we have something called Day light Savings) I want there still to be some atmosphere in the room. I really wanted the lovely drappery with fairy lights and some sort of centre peice hanging. But I can not afford the price tag. About $1200-$2000 and upwards. Not happening. I know my venue has the outside look I am looking for but I just don’t want the room to feel empty and it is hard to picture.
SO, what did you do or what are you doing for the ceiling? Let me show you what I am doing for the lower half of the room, and tell me if you think I am being a complete nutter about being fussy about what the top half looks like. I just don’t want it feeling boring.
There will be about 8 round tables, covered with white table cloths and white chair covers, a white bridal table with chiffon skirting, and same with the cake and present table. All tables will have burlap/hessian table runner and the chairs have burlap/hessian bow sashes. On each sitting table there will be a round mirror with a 30cm vase with river stone pebbles on the bottom and 2 stems of bluedyed orchids submersed in water. Tealight candles surrounding the vase. But that is all.
Here is some pics of what we are having.
This is what the venue looks like. This is the ceremony grass, where the car will rock up. My man is walking down the grass which I think I will be walk too.
To meet him here
These are the stairs that lead up to the room.
This is the venue room
The deck that the visitor can chill out on. Thinking of having some umbrellas and maybe a table just to put drinks on. Maybe some fairylights wrapped around the poles and two bamboo citronella lights in the corners.
So. It all looks wonderful but I am afraid that the tables and decorations won’t be enough. I want atmosphere but not over the top and not with the big price tag.
I do have about 10-15 white and blue lanterns and tissue paper pom-poms lefts over from our engagement party that I was thinking of making into a couple of clumps and turn them into some hanging stuff like this. But obviously in aquas and whites.
Or like this
What do you think I should do. Guess I need to talk to the venue owners but they seem pretty cool. As long as I don’t make holes etc.
