I'm getting married next October in a country/barn setting....does anyone have any ideas for guest favors that are fall or country themed...or both...?
I have already thought of Maple Syrup, Caramel Apples, Homemade candles..etc.
I would love to hear your ideas/thoughts..
A mug with a packet of homemade mulled cider or spiced cranberry mix? That's the only thing I can think of so far.
Just a couple more ideas: Candied Pecans, Candied Apples, Chocolate bark
Honey! You can buy jars online and customize the label, or I saw some pictures where they actually used the little honey bear and put their own tag on! Very cute!
We are doing honey for our wedding next August...which I love :) I also love the idea of caramel apples, I had thought of that too, but then decided honey fit with our Bee theme better heh. I also love the idea of a cookie buffet...its so cozy and delish sounding!
But I am pretty much a fan of edible favours...its a fun sweet treat for the day after!
Awesome ideas!! I never thought of the cider or honey...but both are so fall themed...I love cider!!
Thanks :-)
The cider is a really good idea! I might have to use it...
I'm also considering pumpkin muffins. I have a recipe that I just love and they are definitely very Fall...I just don't know that I want to take the time to bake them a few days before the wedding as we are getting married out of town and I'd be borrowing someone else's kitchen!
I was going to do caramel apples, but the thought of making 150 caramel apples a couple of days before the wedding had me a little worried, so now we are going to give our guests crocus bulbs. I come from a long line of farmers and our wedding had a natural, earthy feel so I think the idea works. People can go home and plant them (either in a garden or in a plant pot) and in the spring, when the pretty purple flowers pop up, they will think of us!
As a bonus, if there are any left overs that get left behind, I can plant them in my own garden.
Homemade jars of jam decorated would be really cute. Or like apple butter and you can put a tag on there that says "Spread the Love"
We were doing horseshoes with our wedding colors woven through them as the haning and wrote on them Lucky in love
here is the spread the love jam jars. you could decorate the jars however you want and make tags instead of labels. So many thing you can do.:)

Here is link in case picture doesn't show:)
i really wanted to do carmel apples, but we decided not to. i think some kind of syrup or jam woud be cute! or even apple butter!
These all sound sooo yummy; as a guest, I would love to receive any of them. Another idea might be maple candy - yum!
I have saved this website for quite some time now because, if I can, I would love to do this for my own wedding favors:
DIY Potted Banana Bread :)

Wow, such great ideas!! The caramel apple idea would be a lot of work if I planned to make them myself, but I was actually thinking of buying them...there's this awesome local store I know that makes awesome ones at Christmas time...cost is the only concern there...
I like the crocus bulb idea too....and LOOOVE the "Spread the Love" Jam idea....I like the idea of being able to decorate the jars country-ish with gingham toppers, raffia, and berry sprigs...
I also thought of little pots of herbs...
silk maple leaves for table decorations

round tin favor with personalized harvest label

@Bridebella- put everything together for a recipe and leave out the eggs and other wet ingredients...make out recipe cards and put the mix in mason jars with the cards attached. That way they can take home the recipe and all they have to do is add the wet ingredients and bake the first batch.(does that make sense?)
Just a thought.
I was going to recommend homemade jam. I went to a wedding 6 or so years ago where they gave that as a favor and I loved it!
We are doing hommeade pumpkin butter in little jars with labels on them.
@MissLily - thanks! That's a great idea, I've done that at Christmas time and people really liked it.
Oohhh shoot! I had finally accepted that I wasn't going to do any favors, but after reading this, I feel like I have to make caramel apples! Dangit!
I vote for something in a jar - like the suggestions of apple/pumpkin butter (YUM!), jam, or honey. :)
I'm ordering my caramel apples from Daffy Apples. http://www.daffyapple.com/ I've never had them, so I can't testify that they're delicious, but they're low maintenance. And not very expensive. I think they come out to just over a dollar per apple.
I love the pumpkin butter idea-- so cute.
We are going to have homemade hot cocoa mix for our wedding on 11/7/09. The label will say our names/date and "The Perfect Blend." On the back, we will have the directions to make a cup of cocoa with the mix. I made this recipe last Christmas, but it never made it as gifts because we drank it. Oops.
One of our employees is having another employee make homemade jams as wedding favors since they're getting married on a barn/farm. I think it's just the cutest thing ever.
Are you handy in the kitchen? Check out the pie pops on bakerella.com. They are mini pies on lollipop sticks. Cute as caan be!
@HurseyGirl. Thanks, I just looked at that blog and drooled for 25 minutes.
These are all such fantastic idea's. We gave our guest a custom made CD with some of our favorite songs as well as music from the wedding. A enexpensive site to use is www.ourweddingcd.com. We also just got back from a wedding that made cute jars with lemonade mixture inside. Something to enjoy out on the porch!!
Hi Miss Leah
Congrats on your upcoming wedding!
Here's a good place to get Fall-themed favors... weddingfavordiscount.com

I can't find a photo, but the Lowes Creative Ideas bi-monthly magazine had a cute idea of getting fall bulbs (for paperwhites, etc) wrapped in burlap and tied with twine that is really cute and fall'ish. They also added a tag that had planting instructions and you could add a message on the other side. If I can find a photo I'll post it...
I love "The Perfect Pear" theme

Just a few ideas - candy apples, apples you picked with FI from a local orchard together, apple cider, gingersnap cookies?
I'm in love with the honey bears as seen in these pictures!

My mom's apple tree went nutso this year and has a TON of apples on it. So, I'm stealing some of her apple butter/apple jelly to put into my OOT bags....there's this place called Honeyville in Durango, CO that has a ton of WAY cute ideas (food related) for favors. I can't remember the address, but I do know they come up in a google search.
Here is a great site for fall favors: http://www.myweddingfavors.com/fall-autumn-wedding-favors.html (Including the maple syrup)
I am getting married October 16th 2010 and I plan on making mini pumpkin breads as my favors, hopefully it will work out nicely because the recipe I have tastes so much better if the bread was frozen so I can start making these a few weeks before hand.
