Well, what is your proposed theme for this reception? To save money, I started saving all of our salsa jars and our guests will fill them up at the candy buffet as a favor. You can also save baby food/salsa jars and fill them up with things yourself (because a candy buffet can get expensive). I've seen things like: Cupcake in a jar, pie in a jar, bath salts in the jar, candles in the jar... The possibilities are endless and it really doesn't have to break the bank.
@Pinksapphire: We are keeping things casual yet pretty. We are colors are black and white with accent of dark purple orchids (our flowers in CR). We are bring touches of CR to the reception with the purple orchids, a few star fish and black rocks. Travel/tropical theme I guess. I am making boarding passes for our table numbers. And instead of table numbers it will be table name (destination of the picture we've been Africa, Orlando, Aruba, etc) a black and white photo with purple lettering of the place we have been. I have never been on a forum before and I have another post on here requesting advice about how to conduct a reception after a destination wedding. Thank you for the advice. Very creative idea. And I like the not breaking the bank idea. As much DIY I can do. haha
I just read that chocolate covered coffee beans and macadamia nuts are popular in Costa Rica. Maybe you could find some cute, little burlap sacks and fill them with those items? You could buy macadamia nuts and coat them in chocolate yourself. Just another idea :)
What about olive oil favors or honey jar favors. Practical and delicious. Here's a great site that carries them: http://www.abovegourmet.com. Good Luck!
if you can get you hand on some baby food jars, i would recommend spray painting the lids .Either hot glue a silk flower on top or punch a heart with a nail on the lid. you get use etching cream to engrave the sides . you can fill with lifesavers, bj's has a big bag for cheap(and them being prewrapped prevents people from complaining you reused baby food jars for real food) or you can make gel candles the punched heart lids works as a light filter but they do get hot! They work great for indoor center pieces i did both for a baby shower . they were a hit!

We are having a destination wedding in Costa Rica in June 2012 with our close family and friends (about 12 people). A week later we will be having our reception back in the states with all of our friends and family (about 100-130 people). I am looking for reception favor ideas. I am not sure where to start. Thank you!
