Okay ladies… I was instantly inspired by a post yesterday and now I’m definitely doing a pinata at my wedding next week! I will have to look around for the right shape, but I also need ideas for filling it up. I will definitely put candy in there, and give each kid a bag, but I’d like there to be other stuff too. Maybe even something adults can enjoy! Although I bet if kids are crawling all over the floor filling up a little goodie bag, none of the big people will climb into the middle to get some stuff of their own. 🙂
Anyway, here are my ideas. Let me know if you think of anything else!
erasers (I hate giving useless little things that just take up space, but my friend was saying today that erasers are something little kids like and collect?! I never did but whatever)
lottery tickets (just a few)
confetti (this is my favorite part, then when the thing breaks, the confetti will come fluttering out and look cool)
I want to give useful stuff like pens, but I can just see them taking somebody’s eye out 🙂

I think you already have great ideas. I found a blog that talked about pinata’s as well & decided I’d like to have one too. The only thing I can recommend double checking first is that the place your holding your reception allows you to have certain things. The place we’re looking into says you cannot have any confetti or small pieces like that. Too hard to clean up.

- Wedding: June 2010 - Ceremony - First United Methodist Church; Reception - My parents' house!
You just covered everything I initially thought of! I pity the person who has to clean all of that up. :p It sounds like it’ll be super fun though.

- Wedding: April 2010 - Marie Gabrielle, Dallas
if you did one for adults you could put nips in there (those little alcohol bottles). Just be sure to get the plastic ones!

I really like Miss.frozen yogurt’s idea of doing one for adults and putting little bottles of alcohol in it. I don’t know what your wedding will be like but if its more of a party vibe you could also put other adult themed favors like scratch tickets, condoms?, fake mustaches would be fun for both kids and adults, and maybe one dollar bills. If its more of a traditional affair you might just want to stick with the candy 😉

I think it should be very kid friendly. Even by accident, a child could go and pick up whatever falls from a pinata or an underage person.
As the hostess/hosts of the reception, you need to make sure everybody is legal and safe. I love all the other ideas and just think all but the alcohol should be involved in something that’s usually reserved and thought of for kids.
Just my “inner mommy” coming out again!

@bellenga – good point about being responsible for making sure everyone is legal and safe! You’re right.
@Brudersgirl – LOVE the fake moustache idea! How cute!

Ring pops! Oh please, ring pops! I love them so. Gummy snacks? I like edible things. I love the bouncy balls cause they’ll bounce all over the place when they hit the floor!

Wouldn’t ring pops break???
I think you’ve got it all covered though!! And now is the perfect time to get bulk snack sized halloween candy for cheap! 🙂

@RB- why you gotta ruin all my fun? Ring pops might break… but they might not. WHo knows? Maybe you need to come to Lexington so we can test it out.
