I’m am currently doing a 5k run for the local animal shelter and a 2 mile walk to end Alzhemier’s. I HATE asking for money even though these are good causes. Any ideas on how to fundraise for these other than asking family and friends? I’m kind of at a lose of what to do to get these worthy organizations the funds they need.

Well….I don’t know about how to fundraise for the 5k and other run, but I’ll tell you what has worked for me in the past for fundraising:
Pancake dinners. SERIOUSLY- cheap and people LOVE breakfast for dinner. See if a local church could host it. Just sell tickets for like 5 bucks a piece, and have a donation jar at the front. I raised almost $1000 dollars for a cause with this once…in a SMALL town.

@Ms.Pink: That’s awesome and I would love to do something like that. Was it just you or did you have help?

Well, I recruited a few close friends to help with the cooking of pancakes and bringing people their plates, but I organized the whole thing. It was really a great night, and helped me remember how wonderful people still are!

Some fast food restaurants (Wendy’s does this but not sure about others) will allow your organization to come in and serve food and you get to keep the profits.
