I have no idea what to do for dessert for our NYE wedding! Our caterer has a wonderful dessert bar but it’d be an extra $5 per person and that is really too much for us to spend.
I’ve thought about regular cake, cup cakes, cheese cake, ect but I’m not sure what’s going to be the most cost effective. We kind of didn’t want to go with just normal cake as my fiance isn’t the biggest fan.
Has anybody got some good ideas for a fabulous dessert on a budget? Only thing is they need to be made in a licensed kitchen, or bought from a bakery or store.

@laurel946: Do you have a favorite dessert or does your FI? We considered getting large batches of bread pudding made which would have been incredibly inexpensive. However, it wasn’t appropriate for a summer wedding so we went with boring ol’ cupcakes.

@aliavenue: We REALLY wanted ice cream but our caterer said it would be too hard with our venue. We were thinking cheesecake with different toppings as well. I love cake but fiance does not haha we will still probably have a small cut cake for us though 🙂

One of my favorite weddings had bite size desserts… brownies, cheesecake bites, rice krispie treats, pecan tasssies(like mini pecan pies), cookies(a variety of flavors), truffles, mini cream puffs, etc… many were purchased from a Gordon Food Service store.. not sure if you have them in your area but look for a wholesale place.

@laurel946: We did a s’mores bar for $1.25 per person (in addition to cupcakes). Guests really liked it!

@laurel946: we did pies and bundt cake!
We also had candy bowls, which were a huge hit!

What about hot apple crisp with little baby scoops of caramel gelato on top?

How about a chocolate fountain with dippers?
