Aw, that sounds so nice! We're having a "Superhero" Theme party at our house with friends, where we all dress up as a different superhero. Nerdy, but should be fun.
Maybe a chocolate fondue with strawberries to dip? That would go well with the champagne!
Thanks for the neat idea! I think I might try to do fondue! I'd love other ideas, both food and non-food :)
I'm in pretty much the exact same situation. I'm thinking of watching When Harry Met Sally (more for me than for him) and buying grapes and strawberries and other sexy finger foods. Maybe some lingerie? I should probably cook something, but haven't thought of that yet. I'd love any ideas too.
We're doing fondue also! Then I'm thinking maybe play some games (we got a TON of board games for Christmas) and then maybe some lingerie!
Last year we spent it together just the two of us (plus our son). We made crab legs, and rice pilaf, prawns and salad with some wine. And then went in the hot tub for more wine (after our son went to sleep). We then came out, watched a movue, had cheesecake and other cakes for desert ( we bought some yummy ones in different sample sizes and varietys from the bakery) and drank champagne at midnight. It was perrrfect. If my sister wasn't satying with us we'd probably do it again!
We're doing lobsters and champagne. And a nice, wuite evening at home. Wouldn't have it any other way!
Board games! The Mister and I usually play an epic game of monopoly on NYE!
We're going to have a lot of little finger food type of things and watch a movie, then watch the ball drop on TV. We went and watched it in person one year, but we probably won't be doing it again lol It will be a very quiet evening, but we enjoy it. We did this for the past 2 years I believe. Maybe we'll put together a puzzle or play Uno or something too.
My FI is set on trying out his deep fryer tonight and we'll be staying in watching our school's bowl game which starts at 7:30. It's better and more comfortable anyway since we've both had a sinus infection all week.
Fondue seems to be very popular! We had lunch at The Cheesecake Factory today so we ended up just picking up our favorite cheesecake to go with our champagne tonight instead.
Board games are a great idea too. We have a couple new ones from Christmas that we might break out - we've actually never played a board game just the two of us.
@babymilka74: That's so funny - I just told DH I'd like to watch When Harry Met Sally tonight!

My husband and I decided to forgo a night on the town with friends (too expensive and chaotic) on New Year's Eve for a nice dinner just the two of us. Our reservations are at 8:30 so we'll ring in the New Year in the comfort of our home. It's our first married New Year's and first one just the two of us, so I would like to make it special and romantic. I'm obviously going to get us some champagne, but any ideas for something cute for me to do for him? Or maybe a great dessert I could make? I'd love to hear what you are doing too!
