I would like to do something a little different than having the rings carried down the isle on a pillow. Does anyone have an idea or two they would like to share?

Do you want to leave out the whole idea of the ring bearer? or just the pillow? here are some bee ideas:

    Ideas I have seen.

In a hollowed out and decorated book.

    In a chest or box

    Carried on a ribbon

    In a bowl

    In a birdsnest

Around the neck of a teddy bear on a ribbon

    In a large shell

In the centre of a large artificial flower

Tied around the brides wrist on a ribbon

OK I am not sure why these have all stuck in my mind and I am sorry I don't have any pictures for you but I am sure you can imagine your own twists on the ideas.

I went through the whole worrying about the ringbearer for a while and in the end went with the best man having them in his pocket method as he is probably going to be the most reliable person at the wedding (bride and groom included) and it seemed the best way to make sure the rings at least made it to the service.

Another idea I've seen for the rings is in a glass slipper. :)

I love the book idea too!  If we were doing a ring bearer, I would pick out my favorite love story and have my fiance do the same and have the rings carried down on those.

One of our DIY projects (our first!) was the hollowed out book.  I found the idea & tutorial on oncewed "DIY ring pillow book".  Way easy!

Our vintage book was gifted to us by a local used book store owner who loved our idea.  The ribbon we used was from a vintage wedding hat we bought at a vintage clothing store.  We glued a picture from our e-session on the inside of the book to cover the title page.   We love it!!!  Ill post a pic later today if you'd like...

I am having ours on mini pumpkins.  they will be slid over the stems.  It is going to be a fall wedding, so that is very appropriate.:)  But you can do so many neat things:)

MsHymanRoth had a post a long time ago about her ring bearer carrying a teddy bear down the aisle!

I love that idea for younger RB. Mine will be 5, so he's too "cool" to carry a teddy bear... :(

There is actually a website that will make a teddybear out of any material you send them ... I thought about doing it out of my mothers wedding dress ... but the idea has been scratched ...

I saw a picture of a boy carrying a faberge egg in a magazine ... it was cool

I saw an article somewhere where the bride and groom were responsible for each other's rings.  The bride tied the grooms around her wrist on a really lovely ribbon, and I thought it looked darling.  Could be a possibility if you're skipping the ring bearer entirely.  You could do a ring-warming too, where the rings are passed around your guests and each guest says a little prayer or well wishes while holding the rings.  Then they make their way back to you when it's time.

I always liked the ring-warming idea, but it sketches me out a little to think that my ring could be floating around somewhere unguarded.  It might work better for a small wedding :)

Thank you all for your ideas. They are all great. I think I've decided what I'm going to do( of corse this might change, there are still a few months to the wedding lol) but here is what I'm planing as of now; An open bible, might be open to a special verse haven't figgured that out yet, with a ribbon running down th center of the book and up the back to creat a loop around the book so I can tie or pin a white bearded iris in the center of the open book with the rings in the center of the flower. And I think I'm going to have my sister, and maid of honor, carry it down the isle. The bible was future Mr. Chef's idea, playing off the hallowed out book idea. then I tweeked it a little with the flower ect. yay team work. His thought was that it could be cool to have them carried in the bible to simbolize how our marriage is centered in and carried in Crist. Gosh I love that guy.Smile

Ok, so I was going to suggest a bird nest, but that was already taken.  But, my idea isn't quite as unique.  If you aren't going the ring bearer root, the groom's ring could be tied to the bridal bouquet and the bride's ring could be tied to the base of the boutonniere.  If you are going with a cute little ring bearer, you could try tying the rings to the binding of a Bible or favorite book.

Here's a variation on tying the rings around your wrist with a ribbon -- hiding them in a corsage! Brides or one of the moms could be really cute, especially if you have a tiny/nonexistent bridal party.

I also love the nest bowl from etsy! I would use it to hold my daily jewelry on my dresser after the wedding was over...

I had a bride once glue a ribbon onto a child size Rugby ball.... obviously you could also use a football, soccer ball, basketball, etc...

I'd post a link or picture but I don't want to get kicked off since I'm trying to actually be a bride on here ;-)

i read somewhere that they tied their rings onto a foot-tall Optimus Prime toy. How cool is that?!

We used a vintage book that totally reflected our story (you can read about why I picked it on our website).Pardon the ugly way the rings are tied on. This was our groomsman's not-so-pretty method of making sure they stay put :PIdeas for something to carry the rings in that differs from the ordinary : wedding 55789.whomarriedadventure1
