I don't know what your theme or color scheme are, but your topper is colorful and reminiscent of a traditional Christmas, so I wouoldn't do an all white or gold, more modern  looking cake design.

Here are a few ideas obtained by googling "Cgristmas wedding cak

My cake maker said I had a choice between a cake people will eat (buttercream frosting) or a cake that looks good (fondant). I wanted a cake that people would really enjoy so i went with the buttercream frosting and added the fondant ribbons, stars, and poinsettias. each tier of the cake was different flavors and fillings and was designed to look like wrapped presents. over all i was very happy with how this cake turned out. we had a separate cake topper with a christmas tree, a bride wearing a fire helmet (i'm a firefighter) and we cut the cake with an axe.

I dont have a pic, but our cake is going to be made to look like a snowy mountain, with bride/groom snowpeople on top. On the way up the mountain/tiers of cake, will be the bridal party, also as snowpeople, each with something (like a paintbrush or cowboy hat) that symbolizes each member of the bridal party :)
