We’ve been to the church where we’re having our ceremony several times, but last night was the first night that we really looked at it from a logisitcal standpoint. I’m very afraid of the layout of the church. The pianist will not be able to see the bridal party as she plays, her back will be to everything. There is a mirror on the piano, but I don’t know that she’ll be able to see from the entry point of the bridesmaids, groomsman, bride, etc.
Any ideas how to coordinate the piano player and the bridal party to know when to start walking down the aisle? The brides room is all the way upstairs and in the back of this huge church. How will the bridesmaids know when it’s time to go out. More importantly how will the bride (me) know when to go out, and how will the pianist know when to do which songs.
I’m sure we’ll figure all of this out during the rehearsal, but I’m looking for ideas now, I’m so worried about the layout of the church and where things are located…. one idea I had was a baby monitor….. walkie talkies maybe too…. ideas anyone?

Does the church provide a wedding coordinator? If so, that person can take care of that. If not, then maybe find someone (a friend not in the bridal party? your mom?) to just walk and communicate with everyone. “hey girls, are you ready to go? ok, line up and wait in the back of the church til you hear the piano start.” (walk over to piano.) “hey piano player, the girls are ready, so can you start in about 1 minute?”
If the piano player is someone who regularly plays at the church, then I wouldn’t worry about whether they can see the BP. I’m sure he/she has done it before.

You’re probably right, a friend can help with this. Our piano player is someone hired outside the church. Basically we’re “renting” the church. We have our own officiant, etc. The church is very poor with a very small congregation, mainly consisting of family, so it’s gonna be interesting, we don’t have a lot of help in the usual departments.
But, we’re just thankful to HAVE a church to have our wedding in, it’s pretty difficult to find a place that will allow it when you’re not a member.
