I am kind of at a loss with what to do for our August wedding after the ceremony. Hoping the wedding bee community can help!
We are getting married at a cathedral in the city and city ordinance states that NOTHING can be thrown after the ceremony 🙁
I had always had my heart set on rose petals, but was more than willing to go with bubbles. However, I have since found and ordered my dress and it is taffeta! Past experience with friends who had taffeta gowns and bubbles=disaster (i.e. bubble spots on dress, eek!)
We thought of releasing butterflies but it is sooooo expensive! Does anyone know of an inexpensive butterfly release company/other ideas for us? I am stumped.

Yes! I agree with jm1773, if you can’t do bubbles, sparklers make BEAUTIFUL pictures.

I say sparklers too. I always feel sad for the butterflies 🙁

How about growing your own butterflies? And then releasing them? It’s definitely possible … I say “growing” but that’s the wrong word .. anyway – caterpillars love milkweed and if you go searching you can find some caterpillars and watch them change into beautiful butterflies that you also then release … it’d be a ton more personal that way, too!
Or, well, I do love the idea of sparklers! Or ribbons?!?!

I like the idea of waving ribbon streamers if it is a daytime wedding – sparklers look a lot better at night.

I went to a wedding that had a balloon relase. Each guest got a balloon (they had different colored balloons in their wedding colors) and as the b and g walked out of the church they let the balloons go. I thought it was really cute! It made for some amazing pictures too! Good luck!!
