Can you rent a sound system?

I would rent something… Or for under $500 you can buy a Bose sound dock, which puts out an amazing sound quality.

Rent a PA system and plug an ipod into it.  If you’re having more than 40 or 50 people you’ll want a proper sound system.  You can rent them fairly cheaply at a music store (the larger stores usually rent gear). Get a friend who knows how to set up speakers to do it (it’s not very difficult). You’ll need at least 2 speakers, 2 tripod stands and maybe a small mixer. The folks at the rental store can advise on the type of speakers and whatnot,  they will be able to help you!  It should be around 50-75 bucks I think… Oh and if you want a mic you could rent it at the same time!

we are renting one for ours.   Make sure you watch them set it up mock set up if you aren’t hiring them to do it – ours is a bit complex and I’m technically minded.

Ask the venue what people have done before. Most likely the solution is what PPs have said–rent or buy speakers and plug in your ipod.

Bluetooth speakers maybe? Just a thought!

Our reception venue doesn’t have a sound system either, but we’re borrowing speakers/etc from the church where we’re getting married. They aren’t charging us, we just have to make sure we bring everything back the next day. (That being said, I’ve been a member of this church my entire life, so they know I’m not going to steal their speakers and disapear into the night).
