I’ve heard rowing works, but I think really anything for shoulders/upper body.  If you’re like me and you hate dieting and exercise, I’ve heard alterations can help by creating a low V in the back.

I second the push-ups!  Pull-ups are also really great for this.  You can buy one of those over-the-door pull-up bars for $20 at Walmart.

@FutureArmyWife12:  I did the 30 day Shred by Jillian Michaels and it was AMAZING for my upper back and shoulders, etc. I’d highly recommend it.

lose weight. You can’t spot-train fat loss. You can lose weight and you can build muscle. You CAN spot-train muscle growth. so that’s where the pushups, pullups, etc. come in.

Do as many regular pushups as you can! ALWAYS push yourself! I did this mad abs thing for about a month straight. I started only being able to do like 3 pushups and now I could do about 15! Its great for your upper body and your core!

Pushups etc. won’t get rid of fat, but they will strengthen your muscles. I find doing a mix of cardio and weights helps get rid of fat, strengthens my muscles and results in overall size-shrinkage!

I’m about your weight and a couple inches shorter and i get back fat too. More cardio and less carbs works for me.

You need to find a Lat Machine at your local gym.

 Seated you choose the weight resistance, then pull down on the overhead bar.

Mix it up… so you aren’t lifting the same amount of weight every day… and work it up slowly

example…  15 – 15 – 20 – 10 – 15 // then move up to 20 as you base weight, 25, 30, 35 etc

Lat Machines do an incredible job of upper body toning… arms “chicken wings”, backfat, shoulders etc.

And it isn’t a hard exercise, so not exhausting or painful or any of that nonsence

BONUS = Results can happen fairly quickly too !!

You can build muscle in those areas with rows pushups pullups. Targeted spot fat loss is a marketing ploy to sell fitness gadgets. 


Do all the stuff in this thread along with a goodnutritional Plan to hit your goal. 


As for pushups you can start with girl pushups but work your way up to real. When i started getting in shape I could do 10 man pushups by the time I hit my goal I’m getting bored at 30 or 40 in a row.

I know nothing about exercise, but I thought that working out a target area to blast fat away was a myth?

Right now I’m working on all-over weight/fat loss with the Insanity diet/workout. It’s working so far.

I read an article the other day suggesting that a lot of the backfat/armpit fat issues are due to wearing the wrong size bras.  It basically said that most people are wearing bras with cup sizes much to small and if you buy a bigger bra and then ‘stuff’ all of your boob and armpit fat (which is actually breast tissue that has gotten squished around into the wrong area) into it eventually all the wierd extra fat will reapportion itself and go away.  Idk if it actually works or not, but it might be worth considering…
