I’d go for the F colour ideal cut, quality over quantity 🙂

ETA: I would also go for slightly bigger but still F colour. But I am biased, F colour VVS1, Ideal cut, 0.61

    I don’t think the color difference between F & G is that pronounced. I voted for 1 CT G VS2

I’d narrow it down to the better color/cuts and then look at them in person.

I vote none! those are all too much to spend on a piece of jewelry, i don’t even like jewelry.

Depends on what shape stone we’re talking about! Color and clarity in a round are totally differently visibly than say in a pear!

@drummerbride:  Hate to say it I’m with you. I love diamonds, don’t get me wrong, but I would love to have a house to make my home more than a hunk of compressed rock on my finger. For those prices, along with what we already have saved, SO and I could put a down payment on a nice little house in a good area and really start to settle. Plus, I LOVE LOVE LOVE Sapphires and colored gemstones so I’ve been steering SO towards those for e-ring options anyway.

I wouldn’t go under F for color and stay in the ideal cut since that’s the most important, and I wouldn’t do an I clarity. I picked the 1ct $5500

I picked the F one for 3500 only because there’s no way in the world we could ever afford a 5500 diamond, so I picked “the best” from the lower prices 🙂

I’d get the F, VS2, .5.  Completely colorless and great clarity is key for me.  My diamond is pretty similar, except it is E and VVS2, signature ideal cut.  I have never wanted a big rock, so the one my husband surprised me with is just perfect for me 🙂

Overall, I would say, most go “no J’s” no “I’s” and size sometimes.
