Definitely tell people you're in the wedding. I don't even think that's stretching the truth, since you're involved in the wedding beyond the level of a regular guest.

Maybe this is just semantics, but I just feel like it is easier to tell people I am "in the wedding". Of course close friends or whatever I will explain, but is it misleading to tell acquaintances I am in the wedding when telling them I am taking a 1/2 day vacation (for coworkers) or shopping (salespeople)?
Yes, this is a silly question, but I am just wondering how you feel. The 2 bridesmaids are family and all the friends are "house party". I am helping with crafts for the wedding and some planning help and am being asked to wear a certain color of dress (details to give context). The wedding is a Jewish wedding, on a Sunday night, so I might be taking Monday morning off to recover. :-D
