Ok bees, I bought my wedding dress last August. I got it on sale for $299. I cant wait to wear it, but my weding got postponed. We dont know when we are getting married. maybe a yr or two from now. But the thing is I’m starting to lose weight randomly, i dont know why but I’m not complaining. Well i was going to start eating better and walk every day anyways. But my dress clicked in my head. What happens if i lose too much weight. my dress is a size 20, but i wear size 16 pants. I want to get into a size 12/14. would that be too much to take in? Or would i just be better off getting another dress? I have no idea which one would be cheaper to do.
Is there any bees that had to take in their dress a lot??

I would say no. Every bridal store I have been too have said that they can make a size 20 dress fit a size 6 bride. So you should be fine if you drop some sizes.

I think you’re going to spend more on alterations than you did for the dress if you’re going down a bunch. Depending on when yand where ou get married you might want a completely different dress anyway. I wouldn’t worry about it too much for now and just see what happens when you settle on a time/place.

if you just go down a size or two you are totally fine.
I wish I had your Problem…LOL

I’d ask a tailor/seamstress about how much it would cost if you’re just looking at price comparison, and remember that a new dress would most likely need at the very least basic alterations. My hunch is that it’s better to stay with the dress you have =)

thanks everyone. I figured i should keep it. But i have never had anything taylored to me so i wasnt sure if i was taking it in too much. I just hope its not expensive to do. well i have plenty of time to figure it out. ha

@s.renea9: I hate that I am the only one bringing this up…but…(and I’ll say this as sincerely and not judgmental as I possibly can) if you continue to lose weight for no reason, there could be an issue that needs to be addressed with a doctor.
I’m sending healthy vibes your way, but if it continues, I would be worried. While yes it is awesome to lose weight without trying. Even the PP said they wish they had your problem. BUT there also could be something going on.
Just wanted to look out for the bees. Sorry If I overstepped any boundaries.

like some PP’s suggested i’d check with a seamstress. i’ve worked in a bridal salon and while it is possible to take a size 20 to a size 6 not only would it cost a buttload but it would also change possibly the whole design of the dress. if you lose enough weight i’d consider selling the one you have already and trying to find another good deal.

@Candycane: Yes i have considered that and i do have a few health issues, nothing serious but you never know! i dont have health insurance yet, I will in 2 weeks. so if it keeps happening i will check it out. But thank you for looking after me.
@janetsnakehole: yeah i mean i bought my dress for $300, i really dont want to pay more to get it atlared. So i guess i will wait and see, our wedding isnt for another yr or 2 so i have plenty of time to figure something out. lol
