My hair is looking awesome because of the pre-natals. I cut it off last March to my shoulders and it is already more than halfway down my back and soooooo sooooo thick!

And yep agree 100% that nails look awesome 🙂 I am considering staying on these forever hehe

I always wanted to test out the theory of taking prenatals to get stronger hair and nails, but was never disciplined enough. Now that I’m actually preggo and have greater motivation to take them,  I guess I’ll finally get to see if it works.

what prenatals are you taking?

i’ve been taking prenatal vitamins for 8 months and nothing has changed.  my mom told me my hair and nails will get stronger.

after 2 months, i had posted on the bee, and everyone told me that it was pregnancy that makes your hair and nails stronger, not vitamins.

I’ve been on prenatals for 8 months now (34 weeks preggo) and while I have noticed way less hair falling out, I have never noticed a difference in my nails. Actually, if anything, they have gotten worse 🙁 Lucky ladies with their nice nails…

@ajillity81:  This was true for me. When I took pre natals not pregnant there wasn’t much difference in hair/nails. While pregnant my hair and nails look awesome!

I’m on Nature’s Own Pregnancy Platinum – definitely not pregnant 🙂 my nails are stronger and grow quicker and my hair is growing quickly and doesnt split. I have been on them for over 18 months now thou so maybe that makes a difference??

I’ve been on the damn things for 33 months and haven’t noticed a damn benefit! My hair still falls out the same – it’s everywhere! TMI but DH always finds my hair wrapped around his “stuff” and in his butt crack! Seriously, my hair is everywhere, it’s a wonder I’m not bald!

@TammieRei:  Not to be a downer, but has anyone warned you about the postpartum hair loss? Ugh. All of the hair that seems to stay while you’re pregnant is just temporary. However, there are some lucky women who don’t suffer from this! I sure hope you’re one of them!

@LincsMama:  ugh, I know, booo, right?! I used to lose sooooo much hair before and I’m not looking forward to having to create shower hair piles again.

I agree – I’ve been taking prenatals for 8 months (not pregnant yet)!  I’ve always had very thin nails…now they are noticably thicker – and growing faster! No noticeable difference in my hair though.

If your prenatals have Biotin in them, that will usually help the hair/nails.  When you are pregnant, your hair (generally) stops shedding so you get thicker hair, but for most people a lot will fall out when you give birth 🙁

@ajillity81:  do your prenatals have biotin? That’s the main vitamin contributing to strong hair & nails in prenatals. I take prenatals but a brand without biotin because it tends to give me horrible cystic acne, and I haven’t noticed any differences in my hair & nails. The only real major thing that makes any difference for my hair is coconut oil, and for my nails is a clear polish with vitamins and protein in it….
