Even though it's family......that's still kinda rude. :/ Sorry about that. I've had similar things happen when I wear certain outfits and it's irritating! No. If I were pregnant, don't you think there would be an announcement of some sort?
@AmeliaBedelia: I hid it last time until I was about 20 weeks for fear something would go wrong. I bet they were afraid I was doing it again!
wow you never ever ever ask someone if they are preggers ever unless they say something about it first. geeze.......
I'm sure you look fine btw 15 pounds heavier than your "normal" or not! :)
Ugh, sorry!!!!
Are you on any new medications? I gained about 20 pounds all in my middle once because of that. If you're stressing out that could be it, too. It helps pack it on all there in the tummy where none of us want it.
You may want to see a Doc, just in case. It could be a variety of things and perhaps they can 'fix' it :)
Good luck and I say just punch the next person that asks! ;)
I know how you feel! I don't wear certain shirts to work anymore because I got tired of people asking me if I was pregnant.
Sorry that you've been hearing that. With IBS symptoms and weight gain, maybe you should see your doctor?? I wish you well.
I feel ya, I had a guy ask me once if I "had my baby" uh... "weren't you pregnant at the beginning of the semester?" No... never was.
Ugh, I am so sorry! I once heard someone say "you don't ask if a woman is pregnant unless you see the head emerging from between her legs!" and I go by that motto!
Wow. Sorry to hear this! But want to add, that being pregnant, if and when a woman becomes pregnant is BEING BEAUTIFUL!
I know you're not, but had to give my love and props to all the bees here who ARE pregnant! Been there myself, dun that, and got a temporarily larger T shirt :)
Now back to the topic...
When I moved in w/DH two months before our wedding, I put on a bit of weight instead of losing!
I began suddenly finding myself cooking for 3 people, 2 of which are guys (my 12 year old son and DH) and two of the three of us was NOT dieting.
So it was hard, time consuming, and a challenge.
Imho, sometimes being happy and a newlywed can bring on the unwanted pounds! But they were happy ones!
Ohhh no! That's such a no-no to ask someone if you're not sure. When women are stressed, they put weight on around their stomach. When I first started teaching, I gained 30 pounds. With everything you've been dealing with, it's probably just stress weight. Find some YOU time, girl!
And even though I've never seen you, I bet you are beautiful as-is!
Have you gone to your doctor?
One of my best friends put on sudden weight and didn't "feel" much in it (all around her belly) and turns out there was a large tumor.
I know this is extreme and I wouldn't wish what she had to deal with on anyone -but it was a sudden weight gain and an unreal outcome.
I would hope it's not anything extreme, but weight gain you're questioning could be a variety of things and probably best dealt with by seeing your doctor first!!
Ugh! That is very rude! I've been on the recieving end of the incorrect "when are you due comment" and it is not fun. I'm sure you are very beautiful no matter what, but if your weight gain you talked about is sudden or cannot be attributed to stress, etc you might want to see a doctor.
I feel ya. I was at an event my junior or senior year of college and I was wearing a black, empire waist dress I had. I thought it looked great on me! Some woman I didn't know, had never met, and was older and should have known better, came up to me, placed her hand on my stomach and asked when I was due. I wasn't pregnant. I was not even that fat, I mean, I could have stood to loose like, 10 or 15 lbs but not all in my tummy. I was horrified. Imagine being like, 20 or 21 and having some lady you don't even know ask you if you were pregnant.
Sorry this happened to you SoontobeMrs.A :(
:(
I do wonder if people think I'm pregnant. I've put on some weight in the last few months, and have a belly that I didn't have before.
i hear you and i am very sorry this happened to you! i have been asked a couple of times if i am pregnant from strangers. i used to work retail. ppl just dont think sometimes...honestly. just because i am fat does not mean i am pregnant. i will see people sometimes and think..i wonder if she is pregnant but i dont ask her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@missapis: hehe I was 21 and pregnant so trust me I understand!
Likewise, I actually thought I looked good today.
@SoontobeMrsA:Eww aren't relatives the worst? If it makes you feel any better, I've noticed my relatives do this a lot to my cousins who have all had kids...it's like they expect them to keep having more right away? Idk...people are so rude
Why are people so rude! I had a few people ask me if I was pregnant. I was, but not even 12 weeks yet so I wasn't showing, it was just fat.
Yuck! When I gain weight, it goes right to my stomach. Unfortunately when you are only 5'0, that's inevitable. Boo! Which is exactly why I spent an hour at the gym today, followed by P90X Ab Ripper, haha!
I agree with nursenat - if you are gaining that much weight and don't know why, it might be worth a trip to the doctor just to make sure all is well.
Im sorry you had to deal with that...I know how you feel! Once I was PMSing and I had recently gained a lot of weight- I was at the tax office and super stressed out. A woman at the counter asked me if I was pregnant and I just lost it- I just started crying. I think about it now and laugh, but at the time it was a miserable feeling!
Ah! Ouch! :( Hmmm I also think you should go to the doctor! I have Crohn's disease and one of the problems I deal with is swelling of my intestines. Yup, my guts literally swell as if they are water logged. This can make my tummy look bloated. I know someone else with Crohn's and after she gets up she literally gains inches of bloat in her tummy area. Intestinal issues are no joke! However, if it's not IBS is may also be due to stress. I don't know about enough to make you look pregnant, but stress leads to elevated cortisol levels, which leads to fat on the stomach.
I am extra careful about shirts & dress's I wear because of this. I was extrememly sick in high school & ran cross country, so was a size 0 at one point but a 5 on average. After high school I had to stop running and put on weight & every year instead of losing weight for some reason I'd gain weight. So now my size is double what it used to be, my BMI is just entering the you better do something about it range & I am trying. Anyways because of this size change so many family members have commented about me being pregnant when I wore certain cloths I have become very self conscious about what I wear in pictures that might go on FB and anything I wear around them. It sucks and I'm sorry people said that to you.
My god, people suck sometimes. When will everyone learn that you never, ever, EVER comment on someone's weight? That INCLUDES pregnancy stuff. Whether you were pregnant or not, you wouldn't want people saying, "Hey, look at your belly - it's gotten so big!" Grrrr.
Sorry they were being like that. Next time, call them out on it (if you didn't already!). Or maybe say something like, "Wow, you look like you haven't been laid in awhile. Oops, are we not having a competition to see who can say the rudest thing? My mistake."
2009 AND 2010 I had three strangers ask me if I was pregnant!!!!!
I was just overweight....what a horrible thing to happen to you. It's even worse with complete stangers :(
I decided in March of 2010 to loose the weight in anticipation for hopefully getting engaged and married. It worked and I lost 60 pounds.....
Very sore subject for me!
Rule of thumb: If you don't know FOR SURE, don't EVER ask.
lol
I keep getting sick and the first question everyone asks- "not pregnant are ya'???"
Damn! Can I get down the aisle first???

Today was my nephew's birthday so I saw a lot of family and friends I have not seen since Christmas.
First my aunt "Oh my gosh!! When are you due?"
Then my cousin "You didn't tell me you were pregnant!"
And last but not least my dear grandmother "Wow, great grandbaby five is on it's way"
Yup, no. Just gained 15 lbs all in my stomach. Thanks for making me feel even worse about it.
I have no idea why I'm suddenly packing on all this excess stomach weight but I wish it would stop!!! I seriously look about 4 months pregnant :(
