Argh! I need to just get this off my chest!!..
No no no people, it is NOT ok to say any of the following to a pregnant woman:
‘You won’t fit through the door soon!’
‘Are you sure it’s not two in there and they just missed it?’
‘Ooh you’re having a big baby!’
‘Wow, everyone said how big you were for this stage, and you really are’
‘It looks like the baby’s dropped down, you could be going into early labour’
‘You’ll probably have it early, like so and so did, the day after you finish work. So you’d better be ready. Haha!’
Grrr..I have been SO polite up until now, but I swear, one more comment and that poor person will feel the wrath of my pregnant woman’s hormones!!!

I am sure you are beautiful. Pregnancy is absolutely amazing and I think this is actually when a woman looks the nicest. Don’t let people bring you down…some people are idiots.

I totally know what you mean! It really doesn’t make a girl feel good!

I don’t know why people seem to think saying “Wow, you’re HUGE!” to a woman becomes okay when she’s pregnant.
I’m sure they don’t mean for it to sound harsh, they are just clueless, haha. My one coworker told me the other day “wow you are getting huge!” but he is a clueless 19yearold boy 😛 I know he didn’t mean anything hurtful by it.

Ugh. I am so sorry you have to deal with such stupid people. Maybe they mean well, but honestly, it’s still rude. I have a co worker who said to me, “You look like a cute fat person who is about to have a baby!” I was only 28 weeks at the time, and what I wanted to respond with was “Well, you’re just a fat person, who is not cute and not about to have a baby” but what came out instead was “Just because you put the word ‘cute’ in there doesn’t make it any less rude.”

Pregnant bellies make people forget their basic manners! I’m sure you are rocking that belly!

Unfortunately, it seems to come with the territory. Pregnant = people make stupid comments. I’m sorry you’re having to deal with it though. I’ve had that throughout my pregnancy. My own mother tells me I look absolutely huge whenever I see her and insists my baby is going to come early.
I’m not sure how far along you are, but I’ve got two months to go till the due date. The common thing people seem to be saying now is, “Wow! you look like you’re going to pop anytime!!!”. And after informing them I still have 9 weeks to go, it just gets awkward.

Thank ladies :0) I feel a little better now.
@DaneLady: Wow I can’t believe she said that to you! So rude.

@DaneLady: haha! Good for you for putting that person in his/her place!

@Mrsluckywife: Respond with “I’m pregnant and hormonal, what’s your excuse?”

I got a “you are so big. I know the ultrasound showed one but your carrying just like I did when I had twins. Are you sure there aren’t two babies”
you would think a woman who has had twins would understanding how saying your big makes you feel… Grr

Ugh, I don’t understand why people think it’s okay to say rude things to pregnant women. The only things I ever say are, “Now you’re showing, yay!” and “You look so beautiful!”

@beachbride1216: GREAT idea! I am so going to say that to the next person who comments 🙂
@mufflerlove: Oh no! That’s so annoying! I know what you mean – several of the comments I’ve had have come from women with children – you’d think they’d know to be more sensitive and tactful having been there themselves.

I see these posts on the pregnancy threads all the time and to this day I cannot believe that people would actually say these things to a pregnant lady. I mean, of course I believe you, but it is just appauling. I’m so sorry! I’m sure you look lovely!
