...they be surprised about?
For me, I'm from SC, so you guys would probably be really surprised to see (hear?) that I have NO accent. You wouldn't know I was from the South!
I have a potty mouth lol!! I think most people are also surprised that I'm black :D
Hmm. I really don't know!! I never really know what a persons expectation of me is. I think people would have been surprised by my tattoos if they had never seen them in my wedding photos, because I don't really look like I'd have them.
I really don't know, good one!
@mmm the chuck, cola or g-vegas? That seems to be the only three places that people in SC don't have accents... lol. i'm from "the chuck"
@crebre, if I don't tell them, I get the double look, or the blink of "oh I wasn't expecting that".
I make it a habit not to tell people I'm going to meet, just to see their expression.
@crebre - you made me laugh - I found out when I read your blog but I was surprised LOL
People are always surprised to find out I have a black belt in Karate - I am a small blonde hair blue eyed girl and so I guess people are surprised that I am tough haha
Wow - that's a great question. I agree with Laylabelle since I'm not sure how other people might perceive me.
I really do have the mouth of a sailor and I think that despite the “yaaay”s and the “*giggle*”s etc. I’m really not a girly-girl at all.
That I'm actually really shy in real life sometimes! I write more hyperactively than I speak... I'm silly, but not til I warm up to you and the flow of conversation.
@crebre - people that have only ever spoken to me on the phone are surprised that I'm not black when they meet me, lmao!! They're like.. "Layla? I thought you were black!"
That I hold degrees in environmental science and dance, and that I played rugby and danced through university. Though, that's in my profile. I'd say you'd be surprised I'm short...but I've mentioned that. You guys know alot about my life... :)
I'm a big ole' ball of introvertedness:)
@cinemaparadiso: I didn't have any accent until I moved to WI (thought theatre trained it out of me). Then literally the first day I was here, I was at the DMV switching my license plates, and the gentleman helping me was like "Soooo, southern, huh?" after I said maybe one sentence. Lol!
Well, I don't really know what you guys think of me, so I'm not sure! LOL
But in real life, the people that don't really know me well (like coworkers) think I am MUCH more innocent than I am! I love when they jokingly say stuff like "oh, you shouldn't hang around us too long, we'll corrupt you!" And I'm thinking, if you ONLY knew!!!! LMAO Not saying that I'm a bad person or anything, but let's just say I've had lots of different life experiences!
@MMM YOU'RE THE FIRST ONE FROM THE CHUCK IN A WHILE! I AM SO HAPPY I'M YELLING! lol. Where are you having your wedding?
Oh, there's another thing. No one would ever know I can cook a mean bowl of shrimp and grits!
I have no idea what people's perceptions are of me!
I'm pretty shy & quiet until you get to know me.
They might be surprised to know that even though I am somewhat vocal around here, I'm actually really shy and quiet in real life.
Mr. Snow's mom lives in the Chuck (I'm such an outsider. I've never heard that term!). We just got a shipment of Grits, Tea, and Sweet Tea Vodka from the low country.
Shrimp and Grits...mmmmmm.
@Snow
you guys like firefly sweet tea? I HATE IT! I know, blasphemy. We were going to have our wedding at the vineyard that produces it and some local wines, but they quit doing events!
@cinema: I'm with you! I liked the idea of it, but we've only tried it with lemonade, and it wasn't my fave! Maybe mixing it with real-deal tea would make it better? I admit, I'm more of a fan of non-sweet boozy-type drinks (vodka and soda, etc), so it was a little sweet!
Boo @ the vineyard not hosting events! Man, I love Charleston!
@cinema It is so exciting to know someone is one here from the chuckkk! :):) We are looking at the Pavilion at Pepper Plantation! It is so beautiful! I haven't had the time (or money) to put down the deposit but they have fair pricing for my budget! Where are you guys getting married!?
I think they might be surprised that I seem like the antithesis of wedding in real life. Think jeans and a hoodie and a pair of skate shoes. No makeup... and you pretty much have me!
Wow DG, I would be surprised!
@MMM i'm having it at... I don't know! Lol. We've got a list of several places. I wanted the cotton dock so badly, but it was already booked up. We found a place almost exactly like it that doesn't normally do weddings (very against it) so I don't want to say the name here, but we're not 100% sure about it yet! (I will give you a hint: neighborhood in ravenel that went through a lot of controversy...)
We looked at Pepper! It's beautiful, I'm sure your wedding will be awesome!
That I have grown up and lived in Seattle proper all my life but I still have a Southern accent from my time in La. Gets worse when i drink. It's odd :)
That I've complained that I hate the cold and the snow (and I'm from New England). I had the opportunity to live in sunny & warm California for the past year or so and disliked CA so I moved back to New England but I still hate the cold & snow but am happy.
CP- Oh yeah, I'd be a total letdown :)
How long were you in Louisiana MS?
I went to college down there for a couple of years. Ended up coming back to UW.
That im pretty laid back...t-shirt and jeans most of the time. And me too on the potty mouth...I work with truck drivers and my fiance is a truck driver!!
Hmmmm...let's see
I live in NC but people in general are always surprised to find out that I was born and raised in SC...in the country too =) I don't have an accent at all until I relax with someone then the country twang comes shinging through...LOL
I am moving back to SC after I get married...I will be packing up and heading to...you guessed it...the Chuck!! My FI's parents live abt 30 minutes outside of the Chuck.
Our families stay about an hour and 45 minutes apart...how cool is that??
@JamaicaBride Yay the Chuck! I had no idea so many of you had connections to it!
And I know what you mean about the families! FI & I both grew up in Charleston so it's nice that our families are like 30 minutes apart... makes traveling easy!
@cinemaparadiso....I LOVE Charleston!! Even before I met FI I was considering moving there b/c I just love the city. I was actually born and raised in Florence so I was not that far away at all.
My FI and I joke that he travelled and dated all over the world only to realize that the person he was supposed to be with was raised literally less than 2 hours away...LOL! Oh well...that's how it "bees" sometimes =)
Good one, Mrs. DG, that's totally like me, too! I'm a jeans and hoodie girl all the way! I don't have to dress up for my job, so I'm not gonna lie it's gotten worse & now I almost never put something besides that "uniform" on, lol.
Well.. if you are from up north from KENTUCKY or out west you would probably notice my accent, and be surprised that I can cuss like a sailor!!
EEE glad i'm not the only potty mouther!! i am like little ralphie i need my mouth washed out... whew the things i say when i'm angry.. other than that you get what you see.. lol!! i am always giddy and happy and love to do crafty things! I adore M and the kids... am OCD and love weddings... anyone's wedding not just mine lol!!
@JB That's so sweet :) And Charleston is awesome. I love it there, it will always be home, but I'm so ready to move elsewhere!
That I am very silly and goofy. I'm also shy and a hoodie/jeans kinda gal.
@honeybun, I don't know WHY, but every time the guys in receiving make a dirty joke, they apologize to me! Even though they KNOW I can throw down better than all of them combined!
